I'm not good at the whole spelling, grammar or punctuation for that matter, But there have been some bad post in this thread critiqueing the people that are posting bad in threads. Maybe its just me but are we all being a little to hypocritical of others ? I agree some people can't spell or make a decent post to save their lives, but to nit-pick one then post another of similar but slightly better stature isn't much better.

I think there is a big difference between some grammer/spelling errors and just not understanding what somebody is trying to say.

I am like you with my grammer/spelling but can always get my point across easily (as long as I am actually making sense :redneck:)

I agree people need to atleast figure out how to get there point across with some clarity.

Each person of a certain age and beyond is what I'm talking about. Say 8-10 years old on up after that is't all up to the individual.

And schools are simply a collective of individuals.

I don't know where the cut-off age is for personal responsibility, but there is definitely a huge parental influence in this for younger kids, and for most of them, it follows them into adulthood. My kids are 7 and 5 and I worry about most of their peers.

The way I've seen it manifested usually goes something like this: parents are deathly afraid of having their kids be failures, so they don't let them fail at anything. They don't let the kids make their own decisions (and learn from the consequences). Even when the kid does do something wrong, the parent won't discipline them because Dr. Spock said it would hurt their feelers.

So, despite the best intentions, a large majority of parents out there are cultivating a generation of kids that are destined to be failures because they have never experienced adversity and have no idea what to do when it comes their way.

So ya Ive been bashed several times for my lack of pride when it comes to my spelling. Ive blamed it on everything from my accident to just the simple fact the English language is ill logical on how most things are spelled.

After eleventh grade I had 6 credits. 4 auto shop 2 gym.. I was placed in a state funded program called ECI. You had to be referred by your teachers and guidance consoler. The only reason I was placed is the one assignment i would do for each class I would score higher then any other student and I would chose like an unmotivated lazy ass not to do any other assignment and just listen.

The ECI program tested you when you enrolled and again when you completed 90 class hours. Of course I didn't try when I enrolled and tested. but after a few "talks" with the teacher I applied myself. 21 days later I tested out the class and had according to state level testing I had a college level education in every subject except spelling. That was at the 10th grade level. they gave me all 18 credits back and I only had to take a standard Senior year. Late arrival 4 hours auto shop and a English class. They said I had the highest level advancement ever seen and didn't understand why I never applied myself. One simple fact I was never challenged.

OK fine. But, you're a big boy now so challenge yourself. When posting in a thread about poor spelling I would think you could proof read your own post.
Sure there are people with learning disabilities (I was dignosed w/ ADD 12yrs after I graduated) I'm on pills now and wish I had them 25yrs ago. I thought ADD was **** that was made up to mask the failures of lazy parents and lazy teachers but when I started reading it seemed very real. It is over diagnosed to boost the sales of meds but I can tell you that these spendy little worthless pills have change my life. They help me focus but I still have to force myself to put full effort into things. This is were many fall short and don't care enough to put together an intelligent thought.

Along with that I was getting at the fact school needs to be more student directed and offer challenges for all levels of intelligence..

Also, I agree you don't "Give a ****" if it's alittle off. That isn't the schools fault. Don't get all butt hurt when someone tells you you're posts are a ***** to read because of lack of spelling and punctuation. People not caring how they are perceived is why this thread was started. Just like the rest of the problems in the world these days. It starts off small, and just gains speed from there. In no time, "Thank you" goes to "thx"

It seems like so many people today don't even have a clue what "Thank you," even is.
 
OK, lets explain. You don't give a **** if your posts are of a 3rd grade grammar level but you do feel the need to defend yourself when someone points it out. I'm cornfused?:corn:

Perception on the net as well as with any form of written is difficult. Mainly the number one form of communication is lost ( body-language, tone, etc. ). And lets face it if we all were perfect writers this forum pages would never end. I think someone mentioned it. But some of assume most people would just look at what was trying to be communicated and not the grammar.

:haha: that totally reminded me of the text I got yesterday. It was "thanx".. Why type that all out and not just do the correct spelling? Thanks. It's one letter extra to add the "s" and put a "k" instead of the "x" :mad:
