How to tell carrier series?

Not sure, but I think it was 4.11. I thought that the gears would fit on a 3 or 4 series carrier? doesn't it have to do some thing with the thickness of the carrier?

not the thickness. its where the ring gear mounting surface is located.
ie if your not sure set it on the bearing jurnal closest to the flangeand mesure to the flange. post the dimension.

as stated on a dana 30 the carrier splits between 3.54 / 3.73
so if it had 4.10's, it would also take 3.73, 4.56, 4.88, 5.13

and because some one allways asks, yes it will fit std or hi pinion gears.

It's the offset of the carrier that determine what gears will go on it. Did your M20 gears show up yet?

The Bearing journal closest to the flangeand mesure around 1 15/16 inch to the top of the gear mounting surface. from the top of gear mounting surface to the top of the bearing journal is around 4 11/16 inch.
