Anybody who votes for somebody offering "FREE Higher EDUCATION" needs to be fawkin throat punched. WE are taxed and taxed and taxed, our government is BADLY in depth and the SYSTEM we have paid into for our retirement may not be there when we get to that point. WAKE THE **** UP--free is NOT FAWKIN free.... If you want something---EARN IT...

And if you "earn" a lot of it, you should only pay a fraction of the income tax percentage compared to people who are working harder and making less.

IMO the BIG problem stems from basic education--kids should be prepped for trade schools in high school...

Couldn't agree more! There should be a lot more variety offered. It's stupid to try to cram everyone into the same mold. I think kids would learn a lot more if they were taught things they were interested in and at the appropriate times. Like maybe someone doesn't have to learn algebra until they need it and time would be better spent studying architecture or irrigation systems or culinary for example. Less time bored in classes worrying about who tweeted what and more time shadowing/interning with people out in the working world.

Im enjoying this conversation and I agree with Crash. When I was in High School I had the opportunity to be in Wood/Metal shop class. It was honestly the best class I took to help me outside of school. I got a finish carpentry job right out of High School and what I learned in that class helped me get ahead of people with equal time in the field. Was also one of the few classed I made a point to show up for, it was fun.

I never went to college and for me it was a good decision. It would have been a waste of money and time for me as I would not have been dedicated. This is not the case for all people.

What is sad is the amount of kids these days thinking College is the only way and once they graduate they can hardly find a job paying minimum wage. With the current cost of living people cant afford to pay their student loans and rent, let alone eat healthy. I feel half the problem is these kids just expect to have a job waiting for them based on what they have been taught, "got to college and you will get a good job". Not the case any more.

But we also cant forget that to succeed in any position you need to have a good work ethic and many kids these days dont. They rather have things handed to them while playing video games.

Im glad that at a young age my parents taught me things need to be earned.

you hit it on the head there. College is consistently pushed as the way to go. Not providing options. In my high school we had auto and wood shops....the district also had a vocational school, which at the time all i knew it as an advanced auto shop class. Just looked at their website now and they have Marketing/Graphic Design/Engineering Design/Auto/Sports Medicine. I wish that I was aware of these opportunities. May have not changed my decision and I would have still probably attended a 4 year college, but I would have been able to get my hands on more at a younger age instead of an extra "weight room" class or something not as usefully.

Even at college i look back now and wish that I loaded up on another class or two my senior year. Enjoyed the easy schedule, but now feel that I missed on a "free" opportunity to do something more.
