I'm wanting to change over to a ls but just wanting to know what is a good cam to run in one to wake it up and who dose real good tunes thanks

You need to be more specific of your intentions. Will this be a 6k rpm hill killer or a low end crawler? Some cams make their power low/mid range and some way up high. If you are going low and slow, you will not want a choppy cam thats makes it's power up high in the RPM range.

X2 ^^^^ what he said. If you do change the cam, plan on spending some money on a good solid tune. My personal recommendation is the Howard's camshaft I'm running in my lq9. It has a power range of 1700-6700 rpm. Also don't get any canshafy over a .550 lift. The flow numbers start backing up after that amount of lift. Anything more and your just abusing your valvetrain. Also under .550 lift you can run the cheaper gm performance ls2/6 valve springs.

I have a comp 220/220 with 110 lsa and love it really woke up my 5.3 it is a bit choppy with 110lsa but it also comes in a lot lower

I've got a xr265hr cam kit in my 5.3 but I don't really like it. I think it's more of a factory/tow cam.. I've been considering swapping to a hot cam like pholmann posted. I just haven't been around anyone that has one installed to ask questions an see if would even be worth the swap..

Mine has a good sound too it. It has a lot more thump than I expected. It's still smooth right off idle though. That's what I like. It's impressive to say the least. Here's the dyno graph to the wheels on mine

Texas Speed.

have texas speed heads and a custom grind cam in my lq4. it moves out. made 360 to the wheels.

tuning was done by Modern Muscle here in IL

How does that cam do just crawling? I seen they also had a 1200-6200 range also. Try to find a middle ground for hill Killin and crawlin. Thanks

I can answer your question now. It's smooth as silk crawling. Makes more then enough power down low. No surge or anything crazy. I like it.

No problem. ill be at the hardline ride if anyone just wants to check out the drive ability themselves. It's also just a modified and less expensive version of gm's hot cam.
