"A man was struck by a Metro bus just moments after stealing a donation jar, according to police.
Investigators said the man stole the jar from a business in the 800 block of Third Ave. just after noon Thursday. As he ran across Third, he was struck by a southbound Metro bus. The bus driver said he tried to stop, but could not avoid the man.
The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His name and condition were not known.
The bus driver has not been cited, and the investigation is ongoing."
