So uh as predicted ..........

I listened to a 4 hour round table discussion about the events at the stricken Nuclear sites in Japan. It's doesn't look good. Below is a good article describing many of the events and possibilities surrounding these nuclear plants.

Nuclear holocaust in 9 days and counting........

The sum total of 40 years of spent nuclear fuel (Plutonium) for EACH reactor is stored in "cooling" tanks which are ON TOP of the nuclear reactors. The reactors are probably intact, and even if they melt down should be contained.

However.....

The cooling systems of the spent fuel tanks are not working. The explosions blew the roof off of them and as of yesterday the cooling water was boiling. Keep in mind these tanks are open to the sky now.

In about a week the 35 feet of water above the spent rods could boil off and once exposed the rods will catch fire and explode. Releasing Gordzirras wrath upon Japan. Massive amounts of Cesium 137 (half-life 30.17 years) will be released. As well as more Iodine-131 (half-life 8.02 days) which is already being expelled by the nuclear facilities now. There will also be a large release of Iodine 129. They NEVER talk about this one (iodine-129). Why? becaue it has a half life of only 15.7 MILLION YEARS !!! And of course there will be many many other Radioactive isotopes released as well

Many parts of europe are still radioactive from Chernobyl.

It is very good and has a lot of updated information including the fact it was supposed to go offline the first part of 2011. I bet they wished they had taken the plant offline now. :booo:

If worse case happens Japan will probably drop to a 2nd world country. It's economic collapse will reverberate around the world and could kick off a full on depression in many places including here.

I pray they get this situation under control.

Ya this story is minute by minute.

The bad part is it's getting really really messed up minute by minute......

That is worst case scenario........and it's happening !!!!!!

Meaning the spent fuel is about to or already has blown up. Depending on winds this could be bad for us. California produces a lot of U.S. food. We don't need a cloud of Radiaton coming over here.
