My pointy is there seems to be a parallel here. Silt in streams!....We hear the argument every day how nature causes silt in streams and a little more which we have control over shouldn't matter.....These two topics seem to have the same kind of logic but you seem to be on the other side of the fence. I was hopeing you could explain the logic from your side of the fence and maybe some other people with seemingly double standards could review their own point of view......:corn:

Apples/oranges. The issue here isn't the fairly small amount of radiation that's been leaked so far, it's the potential. This has (or maybe had, it seems it's being brought under control) the potential to be another Chernobyl. There were apparently a large quantity of spent rods exposed to the air with severe difficulty in getting them covered.

The issue is about the small amount that's been leaked to some people obviously, but they're idiots, so do what you normally do with idiots and ignore them.

The Navy is making arrangements for the familys/dependants of military personel and civilian workers and the non essential civilian workers to leave japan due to the elevated radiation levels they are getting at the Yokuska Navy base. Levels high enough to get the Navy to do this as far away as the base is from the plant cant be good. Remember "the risk is small"..

Could also have something to do with the lack of resources over there right now but they only tell us so much.

What the fack! First they said the radiation levels at unit 2 in the plant were ten million times above normal.......a few hours later they apologized and said they were 100,000 times above normal...which is still very high.

under "NORMAL OPERATION" this is quite true, it doesnt take much of an accident to change this. minor accidents (much smaller than Three Mile Island) to change this and these small incidences are far more common than most of us think. a little radioactive steam here and there never makes the news but its not normal operation.
