I bought the girlfriend a cheap dehydrator from Harbor Freight today and need some recipes for making beef jerky. Who's done it, how did it turn out, and whats YOUR secret recipe?
weve made it both ways. i prefer dried over smoked.start by throwin some fairly thin pieces in some kind of marinade for a night then put em in the dehydrator.
personally, i like using the masterpiece chipoltle lime stuff.
Edit: For mo betta jerky, use a smoker:awesomework:

also, smoked wont last as long as dried....

also, it never lasts long here in the first place........ ima fat kid:redneck::silly7:
haha, this is true.
the first batch to get done, would be half eaten, before we were done hanging the 2nd batch:redneck:
with the grain? thatd make it stringy, and hard to eat....Use flank steak and make sure to cut it with the grain.
If you cut across the grain it gets crumbly. Do you have a hard time eating jerky in the bag? It's all cut with the grain.with the grain? thatd make it stringy, and hard to eat....
yeh, i like it crumbly. maybe angled across the grain would be good?If you cut across the grain it gets crumbly. Do you have a hard time eating jerky in the bag? It's all cut with the grain.
