A weekend like this is a whole lot better with a cold beer or two at the camp fire after a day of wheeling. But its the hole (ROOKIE) mantality that gets flat out retarted. If you cant handle a few drinks. Then dont drink. Drinking or being drunk is one thing but being a buligerant ass is another.

Ann people make mistakes. As I said Ed has always been nice to me. Is that "knowing" him? Well no, I don't really know him that well so who knows how he "really" is. But I'm sure he's a nice enough guy. Again people make mistakes. The whole weekend, big party, lots of people, etc thing gets to some people and things get out of hand. Hopefully a lot of people have learned a lot of things. :;

Thats Ironic. I was just talking to a FS LEO at a meeting today and he commented on how people that normaly wouldnt behave this way loose all inhibition when they get out in the woods. Some people just seem to think that basic rules and laws of our society dont apply in the woods:booo: Oh well with asshats like these in our sport we dont have to worry about the gags getting us out. These asshats will close us out even faster as the rangers and law enforcement get tired of dealing with them and their aftermath.:booo:.

This is why I stay away from the trails on big weekends. Guns ablazin', fights, middle of the night screaming matches. This is supposed to be a family activity in my mind. I wouldn't want to take my 9 year old son out to see all this, let alone put my wife and daughters in a situation to be afraid for their safety, even if we weren't involved in anything.

Two years ago at Evan's Creek, people in the campground started having noise competitions at 2am to see who could rev their rig to make the most noise. Half an hour later, shots were fired in the campground.

One thing I love about camping at Elbe out of prime season... there's no one there. We camped earlier this year and we were the ONLY motohome in the entire campground. It was awesome to just hang out, it was too cold to have a fire, but we enjoyed the mountains with Jaydog, his son and my son with no idiots around. It was one of the best camping/wheeling trips I've ever had.

It's really sad... we'll be at Elbe for the fun run weekend coming up. I'm sending my wife and girls home Saturday afternoon because I fear for their comfort and safety. It's sad to think that I'm going to have to bring weapons with me for fear that Saturday night before the fun run might get out of hand, especially after what went on this past weekend. I'm sure my son will learn some new words but it will be a growing experience to teach him what is and what is not, acceptable behavior. I pray for a great weekend, a safe weekend and a hassle free weekend to renew my joy for the sport.

Isn't that a really sad statement to have to make. But this is what things have come to.

I wish we could have law enforcement at the campgrounds over night as a standard practice on long weekends. I know it will never happen but the level of drug and alcohol abuse, weapons violations and plain stupidity that go on in the campgrounds and on the trails is just depressing. It get's to the point that you're afraid to confront someone on an issue about trail use out there anymore. I'm a big guy and command some physical respect, but with so many people packing and drunk enough to be stupid, I have to think twice about telling someone to use a tree saver or tell them to stay on the trail, and it just shouldn't be that way.

My wife spent 3 tanks of gas in the pressure washer to get all the cheese off my rig while I was at work. Now i have 6" of naches mud in my gravel driveway

All this drama sucks, and I think it will happen more often as the trails get more crowded due to other places being closed and also due to challenges with enforcement.

I like exploring the outdoors in my truck, but I also find other ways to enjoy the outdoors.

Trust me, I won't let that happen. I don't think I'll have to say anything though, it sounds like the Outlaws are on the right track and going to take steps to make sure that this never happens again. Several of them that were not on the run have contacted me over the last couple of days to voice thier concern over this. Hair has contacted everyone in the club (present sat or not) and everyone (can't speak for the two ass') is embarrassed by this. It sounds like they are going to take the right steps to address this issue...everything from the yelling to the garbage being left. There's alot of people in the club that "get it" and several that are "starting to get it."

I just thought that it was worth mentioning. It's nice to see some good coming from this crappy situation.
