March 20th Reiter Work Party

WOW what a goatfawk. :haha: Maybe next time wait for DNR to release the info since it is THEIR say as to when/where/how these things happen.

If we wait that long no one will show up. If I only have a weeks notice I will most likely have other plans, and I would guess most people are that way.

I started this from talk on the RTW forum, which I know you read to.

If you want to try and bash something, go after somthing that is worth bashing. I would like Reiter to Open, I dont have the oportunity to make it to the meetings that happen during the week. Its a long drive for me to Reiter. If you would like to discourage people from showing up and helping with getting reiter open then you are on the right path.

I met with Charlie and David Way a couple weeks ago on Monday 2-22. We walked the area that David wanted to do the work party and we threw around ideas and David was going to get official word out by the end of that week. Well something happened that changed David's mind and it was never announced to the public (except for Charlie who it appears couldn't wait more than a few hours to get the word out on RTW site).

You calling it all screwed up when you could have corrected the issue just adds to and shows the problems with comunication regarding Reiter.

If you have information that is relevant please share instead of bashing the efforts of some people. If you would have posted up this information this whole issue could have been avoided.

Charlie is the one who posted the work party, Charlie & Rick are the ones who posted in the RTW private area that it may not be happening. Why am I responsible for updating someone elses mess? :eeek:

I think the issue is not problems with communication regarding Reiter but rather communication with RTW. :;

Updated Information

from my discussions with david and stan this work party is going to be very basic and fairly small,
They are looking for people to come out who are willing to take leadership roles in future work parties, david want to go over with the folks that come out what is going to be the criteria of the work in the future, aka what the dnr expect the former trails to look like after work parties and trail restoration projects.

Posted where neil? I have looked and there is not a single mention of anything regarding its not happening--anything I have read is in an open forum. Only things mentioned in private was regarding trying to get lunch for folks.

So if your going to throw out rumors and start un-needed BS that leads to drama at least try to get your facts right.

Plus the reason for the work party being canceled or "very small" has nothing to do with RTW but rather its the DNR's call. We "rtw" are only working within the means of the DNR.

Drama of this nature is lame and does ZERO good...

Also if many folks do show up--we will certainly find a way to handle them..

When I was at the training class this last weekend I was talking with Stan and he thinks David is having a meeting with people who will be leading future work parties on the 20th. One of the issues brought up at the last work party was lots of people and not enough leaders to take groups off to other areas to perform restoration work.

I also heard David(DNR) is working out the details to start having set dates for work parties, I think I heard the first weekend and the third weekend of each month but that is just hear say...

DNR is trying to get better organization with the work parties. I bet we will see some news letters coming out shortly.

Thats what I have heard also--and hoping its so.

Hopefully the DNR is overwelmed with whats been going on--thats a good sign.

well the 20th work party is now changing statis with the dnr. we are going to be having a training party instead. will be only people who are willing to be leads in future work parties there.
we are going to walk alot of ground and do some training people on what kind of things need to be done so there is no confusion, mike i would gretly appreciate it if you would come.

They are having a problem getting a trail restoration criteria guide done in time for the 13th work party
We are hoping for the 20th they will have it. Also do to the overwhelming turnout of the last work party. There is going to be a lot more structure. Also since all of us are covered under L&I when volunteering for DNR there has to be some safety training on tools used

Have fun training 150 people who show up to do work.

And I have waited to see what was happening with this but Eric heard it was called off from Rick and posted such.... Maybe "official" word from DNR would be a better way to keep the "Well I heard from XXX that it was happening this way"

One thing to throw rocks--another to pick them up and organize them.

Instead of bringing drama how about step up and help organize those "150" folks. The DNR cannot control the amount of people regardless of how small or large of a work party it is. Its up to volunteers to help organize these folks to make us be more streamlined and productive.

Well I have searched and I can not find either the post made by 4xrick or nowires. I have searched the RTW board and the this thread.

Please feel free to share information in the future.

I try and post things up as quickly as posible so that I know what weekends work parties are happening, my weekends fill up quickly. So far DNR has not made a final decision on work parties until a few days before hand, this is not enough time for me and I do not feel it is enough time for others either. If you would like to have people show up to help then asking the day before is not the best.

I am glad to hear there is discusion of having 2 scheduled work parties a month on the same days every month. This will make it much easier to schedual for the future.

I took the day off work and went and met with David and Charlie and spent the day walking the woods. Where were you? I have put effort into helping but Rick and Charlie are leading the effort and don't like to SHARE information. They like to trickle a little here and there which is BS. Either announce what is happening when you have details locked in or keep it private.

I am not going to get into this stupid battle. I have done my fair share and then some and continue to do my fair share...

And thank you for your efforts Eric--we can use every little bit we can get....:awesomework:

Sometime people who want to be in charge or want to stay in charge do things this way. I may not agree with it but if they want to step up to the plate and be leaders at these work parties then more power to them. The rest of us should do what we can to help and do what we can to maybe help make them better leaders. Sometimes constructive criticism is what it takes though.
Whatever.:awesomework:

Training for work parties is on for the 20th
What is this?
Do to the size of the group at the last work party. DNR is taking a better approach at how work parties are done. Concerns of volunteer safety came to light along with how trails were going to be restore and also a plan for what trails were going to be restored. Also accountability for what work is being done and who is overseeing the work. David is one person and can
