Less chance of developing hotspots due to the straight water turning to steam if you have antifreeze, if gets hot enough to make steam pockets it will definitely run cooler with antifreeze than with straight water. All the water wetter, 40 below stuff allows you to run straight water and keeps the steam pockets from developing. Every motor likes something different usually just have to trial and error it. Then you also have is your pump pumping the water through to fast for it to adequately cool in the radiator....blah blah, but ya'll probably already know all this stuff...

I dont know specifics, but obviously we will be addressing cooling to the fullest. let him chime in on particulars .

I will when the paint time comes!

I am running water wetter, some AF and water right now. I am going to trial and error it and figure it out. Thermastat is one thing, other is that Jason @ S&N said they have had problems with the temp gauges they use and some read high. I am gonna get TK over with all his fancy mechanics tools and computers one Saturday and figure it out.

I am running water wetter, some AF and water right now.

Read the bottle. Water wetter with antifreeze/water is good for only 2 degrees. Water alone is 20 degrees.

Matt, what other things do you need as back up spares? I mean like extra shafts, tires, anything in general, can you think of that I could loan you for the trip? Just my donation since i will not be going.

In fantasy land we'd have a back up everything... laughing1 Not feasible with all the expense in just getting there.

Thats a hell of an offer though, we do need to get a list of "compatible" parts together . I'll donate parts off of my buggy as well since it will be there, but I doubt mine shares much in common with the bling machine. laughing1

That is a good question Gregg and thanks for the offer. I have no spare shafts or really spare anything asides from heims and links. I have a spare tire and will be getting a WE wheel to mount it to. All my axles are custom width so that brings the suck. A set of chevy outers would be very nice since mine does run D60 Chevy outers. I am sure other stuff will come up and I will put out a list of things I would like to have as spares.

Looking forward to this "rebuild" of a buggy design I have liked for a long time. Matt, you are good on maintenance and getting on it this early will only help you in the LCQ I think. Good luck man!

What width are your axles?
If I were you I would nut up and buy a spare waterpump.

Link geometry is good to go. The changes made before have really neutralled the rig out front to rear. I am just upgrading to coilovers and air bumps to help with the ride and handling at speed. EOR is going to dial in spring rates and valving on the shocks, so I should get a great setup right out of the box. Cole, I will probably borrow a tire or two from you. I don't like the water pump setup at all, I will look at alternatives in that area. The pumps cost about $500

I have a whole bag with extra Heims, u-joints, electrical pieces, tools, and would also like to throw in a couple of bucks knowing that this is gonna cost ya'll a **** ton. Just glad a couple of Bama Boys getting to go out yonder and show em our stuff.

Reports of the ORI built in bumps are all over the board from 1.5 to 3" of travel. Mark said yesterday it is just the last 1" of travel. Also, Wyatt my front shocks are 14" Fox 2.0" Airs.

The ORI bump is the last 1" of travel. But because the strut has 3-stage compression damping sometimes the 2nd stage, being hydraulic like the bump, is confused with the bump. You might say you have a 2-stage hydraulic bump that slows from 3~6" (depending on stroke length and oil level in main cylinder) for the 2nd stage, to the slower final 1" bump of the 3rd stage. I hope this confused you as much as it did me.
