Less chance of developing hotspots due to the straight water turning to steam if you have antifreeze, if gets hot enough to make steam pockets it will definitely run cooler with antifreeze than with straight water. All the water wetter, 40 below stuff allows you to run straight water and keeps the steam pockets from developing. Every motor likes something different usually just have to trial and error it. Then you also have is your pump pumping the water through to fast for it to adequately cool in the radiator....blah blah, but ya'll probably already know all this stuff...
