Dont use allen heads down there, youll smash then closed then they will be a pain in the ass to get out.

What do you suggest them cuase 1/4" 12pts are not going back in. I have used allen heads in the past with good luck. I can always get vice grips on the allens if they get messed up bad.

I use regular grade 8 hex head bolts. The bottoms get beat up but I have never had a problem getting them off.

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

I use standard grade 8 bolts, or what ever I have laying around the shop. I just check um ever so often and remove the bad ones before they get too beat up.

It's called rountine maintenance :flipoff1:

header bolts or go back with the 12 pts. you can always drive the next size down metric on it and get it out.
some front have 5/16" bolts (1/2" head) and bigger stuff has 3/8" bolts in the cover (9/16 head). does that rear really have 1/4" bolts :o

or change diff covers to ones that don't have the cut in thing in them :flipoff1:

Yeah right, Dynatrac is short for let's make everything high clearance and custom so only our stuff can be used. Only their diff covers will work with their center sections :flipoff1: The bolts were 5/16" and I am good to go now. Went wtih allens as hex heads will not clear the cover. Oh yeah had a nice surprise when I pulled the cover...... Ring & Pinion have summer teeth ::) Best thing is that it has been like that since before I owned it since the 3 teeth that were chipped were no where to be found in the center section. :flipoff1:

EOR has me hooked up on a new gear set through thumb.gif

Summer there, summer not. molaugh

Re: Matt O's S&N Fab Buggy Updates & KOH Prep/Rebuild

Summer Teeth is a term used to describe majestic rednecks that are minus teeth. Some are there, some are not! I am missing a good part of 3 teeth and they remains were no where to be found. Don't expect a warranty but a heads up would of been nice. I have been wheeling it hard for 7 months and had no idea. Oh well, EOR came through again and we will get it fixed and I made a **** ton of progress today. Got a bunch of sweet xmas presents for this thing and I am excited about working on it again Friday.

I decided to cut the hood for the high clearance look, not because it is actually needed. Also had a few clearance issues I had to deal with there. Drilled for hood pins and the hood just lacks some bondo and paint. Got both diff covers off and drained fluids, front is in good shape. Cleaned the diff covers up and got new hardware for them. Side skins are ready for dzus plates and paint. Gotta more to do but it is back on track.

Why are you doing any engine cage? I think it looks fine like it is.
