So my friend Tom and I are trying to decide what trip would be better;Moab or the Rubicon? so I need some experienced opinions!! We want to go the week of July 7th thru the 14th,I know it will be hot!!:FIREdevil: and is there anyone else who is going around that time? if so lets gitter planned out and maybe get a caravan going!!

Here are a couple of insights

Moab will bee too hot. Rubicon is at the top of the Sierras and the elevation will keep it cool enough to enjoy. Advantage Rubicon

Rubicon will have too many rigs on it - and you may have to contend with one of the Jeepers Jamborees. Moab won't have many outsiders, just a few locals. Advantage Moab

Rubi and Moab both one really long days drive from here. Tie

Moab you can stay in any of a dozen beautiful hotels/motels and a picturesque little town on the river. Rubi you camp on the trail in the middle of a gorgeous mountain pass. You decide

Well that makes it sort of a hard decicion!!hmmm.have you ran into the jamborees when you were there?can you just blend with them or are you sort of an outcast to them?

The weekend he wants to go should not be too bad--the week prior is pretty busy

Rubi is only 14 hours away --its alot closer than moab..

I would rather go to the hammerz than moab anyways,lol...

That's cool,I blew mine last night and the night before, but I think I'll still go Heh Heh!! I need a chromoly tie rod and drag link, what's my best bet for stock and 1 ton chevy ends?

send bunk a PM? can he get,say,.25 or .380 wall chromoly? hook me up bro!

Go solid--none of this wall thickness stuff :redneck: he has material to make them(will be needing 2 myself) but he is in the process of moving so send him a PM and just be a lil patient...He'll get back to ya.

Some of us are going to the Rubicon June 25 - 28 and then up the road to the Donner WE ROCK the next couple of days.:cheer:

Here, I used these 1 ton ends from napa. ES2026R and ES2027L are the part #'s I used. These are left and right hand (R and L) threaded 1 ton chevy drag link ends with 7* taper. They are 20-25 bucks each.

Moab is only 16 hours...

And area BFE makes the Hammers look like the Wall trail at Reiter.

That said, I would not go to the Hammers or Moab in July...too hot. It was borderline too hot at Moab Memorial Day long weekend last year.

It was always about *100 when we went to Moab every year at end of June. Early starts and night runs with afternoon naps rule!
