Model Railroads

I know there allot of scale RC folks here, but is anyone into model trains?

Anyone have a relative with a basement full of cool old trains?

Outdoor G-scale? Maybe a xmas O-scale? Maybe a nice N/HO detailed layout?

Lets hear it and see some pics!!

A very good friend of mine's father in law has a MASSIVE brass model train collection well in the hundreds I think something like 300-400 brass, his collection overall I think is in the 10K mark though, his display room for building different rail ways is 2500 square feet...bigger than my damn house and that doesn't include all the display cases in an adjacent room pretty wild! I will try and snap some photos when im there next

Did he just build a new (elevated) home?

I did the mirrors and shower doors in there. He must have one hellUvalde collection for the space he's made!

My dad has a bunch of old model trains ranging in size from big to small he use to work for Union pacific R.R for 32 years so he got some custom ones , i use to play with them as a kid and they were the ****.

FWIW......I used to send one of my helpers at work to the Chuck Wagon burger place to get lunch. He said they have a model RR train that runs all around the top of the wall through out the restaurant....sounded pretty badass. This is up in Mount Vernon and the food is pretty good....might be of interest to a few.

Thats where that is. I recall when I was younger with my dad eating someplace and I recall a train running around the place...

Billy Mchale's in Federal Way also has one going throughout the place. They've moved to a new location and I haven't been there yet so not sure if the trains are still there.

I remember a place we went to in maybe Seattle where the train went the whole perimeter and down the middle so every table/booth bordered it on at least one side. It was G-Scale and all your food came out on flatcars and paused for you to unload the freight!

Dunno if the place is still around. I dont remember it being super fancy, more diner style.

I remember that place too. Also rubbing French fry grease on the tracks to see if the engine drive wheels would slip. :D

I have a large collection of American Flyer trains. They were given to my Dad and his brother to share for Christmas in 1954. My Dad gave them to me for Christmas in 1987 and we added to the set for a number of years. It was a blast to play with as a kid. I'm most likely going to give it to my boy next Christmas. Can't believe I never burned our house down with all the **** my buddies and I fried on the tracks. Toys had more zap to them in the 50's. :redneck:

Brad FYI: second hand store across from wal-mart on meridian like 160th or whatever there was a old train kit set in very old original box a week ago.

I just got home from Kent with 3 big ol boxes of N-scale stuff. About a dozen Locos and 30+ cars and two boxes of buildings and landscape supplies.

Well that's just a small ass world! LOL Ya its an amazing collection, its gonna take him forever to get it all set up!

Little off topic but my father in law is building that house war jeeper. His train room is something like 65'x45' and I believe he said he was going paint the floor like Wa or the US and set up all the old train lines.

My grampa used to sell HO scale train sets in the 40s/50s and unfortunately my brother who has never really been into trains got his original sales model set. It's stayed in his original sales case all these decades.

I worked for Enchanted Village just before they built/completed building Wild Waves and part of the duties of the "Barn people" was to maintain the tracks of that beautiful German G scale set visitors would see when they came in the main entrance of the park. I've wondered what Mr. Betts did with it when he sold the park. I vaguely remember the one at Billy McHale's.

I was huge into N scale for about 10 years then had to downsize drastically to move back here. When I had my place in Roy I took up one half of my bedroom and set it up with landscaping, mountains, tunnels, etc. I never took any pics, just enjoyed the scenery.

This world just keeps getting smaller and smaller :wtf:

I need to get back up there and see the progress here soon and snap a few photos, i just have some off the back deck looking at I90 from last time and the massive flag pole lol

The builder is John Day but he is a super for John I have a couple pics from like 2 weeks ago and we will be going there for the house warming party that they are throwing once its 100% complete

My grandpa built a really cool train set when I was little.. I loved it. But when he passed my cousins got it. and they trash everything probably didn't last a week.. As a kid tho they are cool.
