Mole killing...

My former roommate takes dish soap, and puts an ass ton of hot sauce in it, and places the bottle upside down in one of the holes. It is suppose to be really irritating to them. Doesn't disappear quick, and the spicier it is, the harder on their noses it is.

Whatever trap you go with make sure you wear protection. They will avoid the area when you go cramming your junk in their holes. :fawkdancesmiley:

I just use nitrile gloves.

Ya all the reading I have done states to not leave a scent behind.

So I am going to try propane--why not,lol. I have a bunch of hoses and going to make a wand of sorts. I just gotta figure out an easy method of igniting it.

We use a piece of flex pipe hooked to the mower exhaust and gas them out. Just let the mower run a while with the flex in the hole.

The rodenator uses a BBQ clicker ignitor. The button is by your hand, but the cable runs down into the hole where the sparker is.

You could also try using a neon sign transformer. or an old 12v coil and a spark plug, and just tap the power wire to the coil a couple times.

Mostly, you just want some distance in case you flood too much propane and make a bigger boom than you planned.

Ideally, you want to inject propane AND o2 in the perfect mix, and not rely on the air in the tunnel system.

Also, propane is heavier than air, so you could always inject propane on the "high" side of the tunnel, and put the ignitor on the "low" end somewhere farther down the tunnel and cross your fingers ;)

Problem = I have a rodent that tears my yard up.

It actually collapses the tunnel system, which makes it that much harder for new critters to move in.

Sure, you might tear up your yard for a couple weeks, but as long as you stay on top of new mole hills right away, you probably wont be blowing up your entire yard ever again.

As some one mentioned earlier there are different critters and they each have unique traps. a mole trap isnt for gophers etc . read up and you can figure out your critter then go after em. i got my mole on the second trap atttempt....:awesomework:

fwiw, once ya do get rid of them, get all the metal chips from the brake lathe, fill a seed spreader and walk around... moles hate iron... on the bright side the iron also turns grass dark green... and its good for the soil.

Get an old push lawnmower and Weld a 2'X2" flex pipe to it. put Flex pipe in the hole an let it run for 15 to20 min. It kills rats to.

ON a serious note. Do you have cats?? I have two cats out here and they keep rodents out of my yard. Granted your lot is a lot bigger but walking around in the woods behind my property. I see mole tunnels every now then. The cats have caught about 6 baby moles. Haven't seen the momma yet. But I think cats are the best pest fighter. Plus with you guys having a barn now and horses, I bet the mice are are going to be fun soon.

We actually have 3 cats--all are really good at killing **** too,lol. Around the back porch is littered with dead things and we have learned we have to keep the door closed. So far they have brought in (live) 3 snakes, 2 birds and I think 4/5 field mice. They have caught a couple moles.

Report back if it works, got a couple buggers that need to go and have been a little more resilient this year (usually I have pretty good luck trapping them)....

I should hook it up to the '71 cub cadet.... I'm sure that exhaust is hella nasty.
