I just talked to my mom and she was omited at providence but not 100% on what exactly is going on. as soon as she finds out she will let me know and either I or don will post up on whats going on...

she has to stay overnight, she has tested RSV positivd, that means that she has an upper resperatory virus has to stay until her oxygen levels are normal
 
don, hope she gets better real soon. if there is anything we can do just let us know
 
I will pray for your's tonight. Hope it's not "rotovirus" my son had that a couple year's ago. He became real dehydrated and ended up going from Prov. in Everett, to Children's because they could'nt get a I.V. into him. Best wishes on a smooth recovery.

they took her off oxygen about 530am and she seems to be back to normal, we might be going home tonight, she will have a cough for while, one of the sideeffects of RSV but she will make a full recovery

Ask your pediatrician to prescribe a nebulizer and some albuteral sulfate it will help with the cough as well as keeping breath's more productive, it open's the blood vessel's in the lung's that allow oxegen to the blood stream thus keeping the oxegen saturation of the blood at higher level's. Orange sorbet may help as well.:clappy:
 
Don, My youngest son survived this 15 years ago (ICU for 5 days) but it was scary so i know what your going through.....please, please, please.....keep her away from smokers and any possible oxygen impurities at least through the winter. Any dillution in her oxygen intake could bring it back. I'm not positive how old she is but I remember you bragging at her birth recently. As you should have been. But young babies don't breath through their mouths for a minimum of a few months after birth and if their noses are all snotted up with a common cold then they can't breath at all.

Glad she's coming home but becareful of re-occurrance.....She'll be totally normal just get her through the winter. My thoghts and prayers to her....You, your wife and family.
 
yeah noone around her smokes, so that wont be a problem, and we wont be burning our woodstove till much later... the doctors have all said that she is almost to the point that RSV isnt nearly as dangerous to her, cause she is almost three months now, and they also said that the first few days are the worst symptoms.

and for those that dont know RSV stands for Respiratory Syncytial Virus, which can in severe cases bring on Bronchiolitis basically it is a chest cold that brings on severe congestion in the Brochials and due to young age, it causes difficulty breathing, small airways and so forth easily clogged with mucus and such. it is VERY COMMON this time of year and there is no real preventative stuff to do, mainly just support and make comfortable if your kids do get it
