New Crash compound

Mike, I see you got a big tractor tire sitting out there. I am looking for a large rear tractor steel wheel. If you have one you want to get rid of or know of one let me know. Willing to pay if needed.

This goes for anyone else reading this also.

Thats just a bare tire we used to use behind the tractor to smooth the driveway.

Here's what I have done for stretching that wire fencing. Take two 2x4's and bolt them together over the end of a section. Loop a rope over both ends, then hook a come-a-long up to the center of the rope and the other end to something solid, (truck, tractor, wheeler, tree, etc.) Crank it tight then nail it off. You don't want to stretch it super tight because you will pull the first post out of the ground.

Shorter runs like what you are doing are more difficult than stretching a 100' at a time.

Whats funny is as I sat there working on it and actually thought about sandwiching the fence with something to pull on it..

So my question is with a longer stretch isn't it more critical to have the fence stay level to keep it tight top/bottom?

So next I wanted to get the water all done for the barn. I had to dig up one hydrant to not only reset it (was way over at an angle and I needed to tee into that line for the rest of the barn). So I dug a ditch down the side and around the back into the dog area. I have come to the conclusion its easier to dig than bury a ditch,lol. But I only have one more ditch to do after this for a little while.

Very much so. If you have a rise in the middle of a run it will bugger things up. For small bumps betwixt posts I would scrape out a ditch (you love those) for the bottom wire to ride in. For regular elevation changes I would shorten up the pull, nail that section off, then go up (or down) the elevation and pull again.

This was for cattle so the fencing didn't sit on the ground like you have to do for the dogs. I just used a mark on the hammer handle to set the bottom height and went from there.

I have been a big fan of these style of hydrants/never had one damaged from freezing water. I will have to do something for the dog water but for now this will work.

So we brought the dogs home--they are in HEAVEN. I have been taking them out almost every day for a little run time and haven't seen them this happy for a while.

This mess is ALMOST done. I have some stragglers to get into there right spot but once this is done we can start going thru stuff and storing it in this area.

Putting along. It took 5 days of hard work to get the one shop cleaned and organized. Net year I will have to do some work to the building to fix a few moisture problems. At least now we can start packing up stuff and moving it since there is a spot to actually put it.

I am still trying to get the dog area fixed up a little better. The water now drains but the surface clay/dirt mixed would turn to goo with water. I moved probably 25 wheelbarrow loads of topsoil (4-8" deep) and then threw some grass seed down. This should help.

So the roof on the back extension leaked where the old stuff was. I finally had enough and ripped all of it off and replaced it. Not a leak now--much better!!!

So with the back roof done I was able to get the back gutter all done, down spout and then dug another ditch for the drain so it will dump it into the drainage ditch.

Dry weather--perfect and time to move some more dirt. I am slowly getting better with the tractor. But I started with where I ended the ditch and ran it down to the road, ran a covert and then ran the ditch down to the wet area.

We finally got some rain later today (hard rain) and like a little kid I watched the water walk down it and out--seems to be working like it should. :awesomework:

So this is one of the tools I found buried in the other shop. It looked like it hasn't been ran in a long time. Some carb work and cleaned fuel system I got it running--what a handy vegetation destroyer and works awesome.

Mike, sorry, I haven't been able to make it up to get the drive train out of the way. My dad passed away unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago and I had to take off back home. I have to head back again next week to help mom finalize things and for the Celebration of Life. In a few weeks, I can come get it.

I am so far behind on work :(

I have to head back again next week to help mom finalize things and for the Celebration of Life. In a few weeks, I can come get it.

So I finally got the down spouts moved to the drainage pipes on the middle shop. Went smoother than I had expected.

So this has been bugging me. With this pile the way it was you could not pull up to the one bay door. This pile is probably half of what we have on the property..

So yesterday I dug in and got the problem resolved. Nothing makes you feel more alive than good old fashion manual labor. It turned out pretty good and I got a new RC crawler area :awesomework:

Tonight I got the ground ready for gravel. I am definitely getting better on the tractor..

I finally got to read about what you've done with the place and I'm really impressed and inspired! There are a lot of outbuildings here that need to be rebuilt and I really wish I could have been a fly on the wall during all your electrical work. There's still scary knob and tube to the pump house and the breaker box in the garage is from 1968...

I'm jealous of that trimmer you have! I need a tractor but I'm going to have to start out with something like a Yard Boss.

What's next on your list to be done? The first was the year anniversary of my dad passing, it wasn't easy. I hope y'all are doing okay.
