Whats up guys just moved out here to the Augusta GA area. Where can I buy some DOM tubing? the one place I called wanted over 1K for 6 sticks of 1.75 120 wall. I almost passed out. any help is appreciated.

for what it's worth, I price checked one of my steel suppliers from work (in Nashville, TN) and for 6 sticks of 1.75 .120 wall it was $1077.... $8/ft.

$6/ft if I buy 2000lbs (44 sticks)

It was $4.50/ft just a couple weeks ago (for a small order, 3 sticks I think)

Yeah, due to terrifs steel prices has gone through the roof.. 1 3/4" dom has been over $6 a foot for awhile.. 4.50 was like close to 2 years ago... I'd like to see that 4.50 a foot receipt from 2 weeks ago

I haven't got any since May and it was right at $3/ft then.

For 1 3/4" dom? That's sounds more like 1 1/2 pricing.. I just paid 11.50 a foot 2 weeks ago for 2" are your guys areas depressed economy's or something ?

4.50/ft is closer to 1.75x.188 dom. Atlanta sucks but I don't think I'd call it a depressed economy? That price on the plate is high, but I always quote a sheet to compare with other suppliers.

Last week, $3.40 for 1.75x .095 DOM 10 sticks
$3.60 for 1.75x.120 DOM 5 sticks.
Just 2 weeks earlier it was $2.55 for .095. What a ****ing ripoff. The tarriffs account for how much? First of the year it was $1.85/ft for .095 DOM and $2.40 for .120. Hell my ERW .095 was $.95/ft.
So, what was the tarriff supposed to be? 40%. Ok, great. 1.85x1.4 is only $2.59. Where is the other $.80 or 43 more percent of the original $1.85? So 83% increase since Feb? Market needed a correction, prices have been low too long. Before the tarriffs went into effect, they were just announced as possible the steel companies started gouging like a MF'er. Like 50% increase 2 months before the tariff went in. bullshit.

The above experience is in KS btw.
Also, I remember how high DOM and fuel was in the last recession. House prices were giraffe ***** high right before the crash as well. Buckle up.

Side note, most of the DOM i've been getting is India, but if I buy from EMJ, it is mostly Plymouth tube company, domestic stuff, and it was the same price within a few %. If I was only getting high end tube goods in large quantities and no sheet or mild I would get that.

also, holy ****, that plate is $100 high. DOM prices seem great. Suppose that's why I get DOM and alloy long bars from one place, mild and plate from another.

Exactly one supplier is cheap on plate/high on tube, the other cheap on tube/high on plate.

Aren't you in California?

I bought from Ryerson in Mobile last week. USA steel pre tax prices. 1 3/4" 0.120 dom $5 per ft, 1/4" cold rolled plate was $220 per sheet, 3/16" CR plate was $200, 1/8" CR plate $120. Bell steel was quite a bit higher.

All our steel is double to triple your prices.. 30x60 1/4 " diamond plate steel remnant is $190 as of last Thursday here lol. It's crazy how much steel has gone up since terriffs, my steel suppliers don't see the prices leveling off for a while either.

Easy math is to call 1/8" sheet 5 lb/ft2, 1/4 is 10 pounds/square foot etc (actually 10.25ish but for head math it makes it easier to do it all by the pound.
4x8 is 32 ft2 x 10 lbs for 1/4 is 320 lbs a sheet. take that by your price per pound to see where you are market to market.
Gr50 was down to $.39/lb delivered and jumped to $.59 in a few months. Last I paid was $.62/lb last week. total crap.

I'm in Evans.
Cheapest locally is usually Dillon Supply on Gordon Hwy. The past 2 times I ordered DOM I got a buddy with a ryerson account to place an order and ship it to my friend's shop. Ryerson supplies Dillon, so this kind of cuts out a middle man
