I wanna first and formost thank all of you who came out as we had a great showing of folks.

yeah super fun, one thing i forgot to mention is the loose gravel was kind of a pain. seemed like every rig was digging holes whenever they got stuck. Granted its alot like dirt but as far as being sustainable i think possibly using some of the same rubber lattice stuff like they use at walker would help with that.
 
And the carnage for the day. One XJ lost a driver u-joint. A TJ lost a front shaft/Joint and Sami lost one front and one rear shaft

Many of you who know me know that I have an opinion and I like to share it.... So here it is and it's well after 7:00......
I read crap all of the time on the net about how the new Reiter is nothing but a paved road and it's too easy. "My driveway is more difficult" and crap like that. Well your driveway may be more difficult but the trail I viewed today is a beginner level trail. A beginner level trail is supposed to only be challenging for beginners..... I witnessed several rigs broken, stuck, struggling to get through......
Isn"t this exactly what you would want in a beginner level trail?

Good job guys!

I only hope that when the more difficult trails are built that just as good of a job is done then.

Things will settle and break in. This is still a big learning curve for the DNR plus I have seen mounds of dirt moved on other trails from tires spinning but I do get what you mean by the gravel moving pretty easy.

Like I say there is a learning curve by the DNR on this...
 
I was one of the guys with open diffs and the trail was alot of fun, I wish it was longer but it is a great start and i would like say thank you to everyone that worked on this and made it happen.:awesomework:

So the trail is now called "The driveway" :redneck::haha: Could you imagine the driveway with 4 to 8 inches(or more) of snow on it! :awesomework:

One issue I had that didn't have anything to do with the trail itself was that the paved road to get to the trail is not truck and trailer friendly... Some spots there is no way that you could pass another truck and trailer coming the opposite way.


Other then that i had a great time :redneck:
 
Awesome day, good wheeling (yeah, the driveway was fun) and a lot of people turned out which was cool. I liked the trail, it needs some tweaking i think but overall it was really fun. The way I see it was i saw some body damage, some broken parts, and a lot of gravel moved. DEFINITELY has the potential to be great, no doubt.

The driveway is :awesomework: THANKS to everyone that made it happen. My family and I had a great time. I think this first trail is a good sign for the trails to come:awesomework:
 
And the guy at the dealership was going off about how we needed to get the paint coverage... MUAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

She was much happier after I said that I'd pay the difference on whatever the rims come out to be. I guess they aren't 'new' anymore. I'll call them "Demo rims on the driveway" :redneck:

Funny thing is, Charlie said don't run it because of the rock rails. Rock rails weren't the problem! :kiss:

My rebuttal on that is that it certainly is. With little to no use of Reiter road these days, the leaves have fallen and made the road LOOK narrower. If you take your time, go slow, and anticipate the big corners you can make it through on Reiter road with a truck and trailer.


I've been driving that road for years and have yet to see a problem. There are a few tight spots, but if everyone prepares for them, there are very few, if any issues.

It's paved and signed. There are plenty more roads we wheelers drive on with our trucks and trailers that are not signed, not paved and more dangerous.

While I do respect your forbearance for safety, it's a forest road that was not designed for heavy hauling. Respect it and it will respect you. :awesomework:
 
I didn't get any pics today but I would like to say thanks to all that made this happen.

It's a new reiter and moving forward in a new direction. It sure as **** ain't Tahuya. Make the trail miles difficult, make the obstacles many, and the masses will come. A SUSTAINABLE place is what we need.

My only complaint is if every trail is going to take this much work, the cost could be mitigated by surveying areas that are naturally sustainable and letting them do their natural thing.

I'm sure it's been discussed before, but if an area is deemed "naturally sustainable" and then it starts getting dug out. Nip it in the bud by placing rock or material there before it becomes an 8 foot trench.

All in all though guys bravo. I'm capable of more the extreme 4x4 side of the spectrum, but today was a lot of fun. Kudos. :awesomework:

Thanks to all who came out and enjoyed Reiter today, it was great to see all the different rigs. Big thanks to those of you never gave up and are now seeing the start of something good. Looking forward to what we can get built next!
 
I am just glad ya all enjoyed yourself because at the end of the day that is what its all about...

Never stop fighting---NEVER GIVE UP and thats been my moto since this all started and I am ecstatic to see something.......

Hopefully if anything it will bring more of you folks into the picture because some of us are just getting wore down,lol....

Each lane is 10 to 12 feet wide of pavment. That is how the yellow line got painted in the road. If they couldn't hold 10 ft, then the yellow line isn't on the road, the county couldn't hold lane widths

Trust the yellow line, you will fit:hi:
