Olympic 4x Snohomish, going out of business. Auction Feb 22. James G Murphy Auction Co. Details on Book of Faces. Dozen Car Lifts, bunch of benders, more equip than I'll type. Hundreds of Jeep tubs / bodies. More parts than the Moonshiners Swap meet, all going to auction.

Sad day.

Bought parts there back when it was Mr. Jeeps.
(Also, there are two DIFFERENT 'Olympic" 4x4 related businesses. This is the wrecking yard and 4x4 building location up in Snohomish.

Never frequented there, but it was always nice to know there was still an actual 4x4 shop in existence.

Surprised he is auctioning, figured should be able to sell most of that stuff pretty easy on-line.

definitely not dying, the aftermarket for all the JK people is retarded. Their prices personally drove me away, and online shopping made it easy to do that. I'm all for supporting local business, and will pay a bit more than online prices if thats what it takes. But it has to be within reason. I've personally spoken with a few people that feel the same. They were however, good if you needed something right away and had it in stock.
 
My understanding is Carl put in a clause not allowing housing.
I believe the place that bought it is a scaffold rental place.
 
Billy Bob's is just down the road from me. They are my go to for replacement straps and D rings. I stop by usually on my way out to wheel. Sure these items are much cheaper online but I don't mind paying full retail if it helps them out. The convenience is worth it.

If you explore around the Murphy site, you'll see that there is a SECOND, online only, auction going on for the week, with a crapload of NEW PARTS for sale. Big giant tires, lockers, 100s of shocks, winches, and other crap. Tried to figure it out.

Yep.. pics of unopened boxes that you have to google all the part numbers. Seems they have an idea of whats worth money cuz that stuff is priced accordingly. Why is none of the junkyard parts posted i wonder.

Thats good to hear. I've lost faith in all our local offroad shops and years ago sent my business non local. I refered a buddy to billy bobs for a lift on his truck recently .. poor guy he had very less than pleasant experience with them.

went tools went high used parts were not too bad some junkyards were there some guy got all 9 Toyotas for 50 a piece jeep tubs 100 a piece

Nope, Not at all on either account...
He's had it for sale for a couple years...He is ready to retire, and didn't want to leave all that for his kids to deal with.

I Spoke with Carl Friday at the auction. One of his Former employees, is leasing the front building from the new owner, gonna completely revamp the shop, and will be offering New parts sales/ service under the same Olympic 4x4 Supply name. NO wrecking yard...

Looking at the sale prices, I'd say the proceeds exceeded their cost. Doing the auction was a great way to liquidate and get it done in one shot.

Doubt it. Too many shocks and lift kits. Srill, a lot of items brought good money. I got 2 TJ tops. The tax and auction fees brought me up to where it went from "great deal" to just "good bargains". Wish I lived in Oregon or had a business license

I had a good conversation with Carl, and not sure what's confidential, but I think he was OK with how it all turned out.

Too funny. I was also there (on Thursday ). I think the wrecking yard will return with a little time.

I took Carl to lunch. He said it was the first lunch outside the shop in 7 years.
