Operation Shore Patrol Sept 15-16 2007

Anyone know if I can bring my truggy? It's not street legal, but I do have ORV tags. I see quads on the beach...so I should be able to bring my junk...yay/nay??

I am sorry to say that the beaches are considered state highway, and although I do not know this for a fact. I do not think that the local law is going to be to understanding about you running a rig that is not street legal.

This isn't a "rip it up" dunes area. They classify it as a state highway and pull people over for exceeding the speed limits and such.

I got my ass chewed for "spirited cornering" last time we were there.

I know that Karl....It'd be cool to just put around though. How do the quads get away with it? Or do they? I haven't been in a while....

There is also a police-escorted parade with all the rigs and an all around good time. There arent any quads on the beach, you must be street legal. Its just a good cause and a chance to meet MANY MANY people. I've been doing it since I was about 5 years old, and I look forward to it every year. Its held in 3 different locations along to beach (Westport, Ocean Shores, and I can't remember the third) We'll be cleaning the Wesport side.

The 3rd beach is Long Beach.

From the PNW site...

The Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association has worked with Washington State Parks and the Department of Ecology since 1971 to coordinate the removal of unsightly litter and debris while focusing attention to the environmental impacts to citizen's health, safety and welfare.

The event occurs on the third weekend in September each year. Volunteers meet at three locations (Ocean Shores, Twin Harbors, and Cape Disappointment), where PNW4WDA members assign them to a section of beach to be cleaned up.

Theres wheelin on the beach!!! there are different obstacles washing up daily, mini vans getting stuck, tourists driving through the surf not knowing that it is a terrible thing to do to thier mechanics or thier wallets, and especialy with the right tides and winds and cargo containers falling off ships cool stuff washes up. every once in awhile there are some super low tides that make the beach like a baja track. and lets not forget about the states gnarliest of rock crawling trails, better known as a "jetty". But don't do 60mph ($247) , cut nice figure 8's( threatened with ticket) , or tow logs (improper towing, warned) But, its the only highway where you can hang out and drink beer next to a fire on. I pick up junk off the beach each time I go wheelin/suntanning. Our beaches are the best, they need to kept clean and safe so they never get shut down. thanks

I'll be on the Westport side in Twin Harbors State Park if anyone spots my Jeep, say HI!!! (Red TJ, Iroks, license plate SUPAFLY)
