Looking to build another buggy. Liked the 60/14 with 4.56s but want to go FI this go around. 5.3 or 6.0? and what trans and tcase? I'd like to find a good donor vehicle so what would you guys look for ?

I think I'd find a wrecked 2500HD
6.0/4L80E/donor planetary for crawl box/14 bolt (with 4.10 gears stock)

I'd get a Ford 205 to put behind the crawl box and a 05+ super duty Dana 60 front (pick one with 4.10 gears stock)

Should be plenty stout and upgradable as needed, without costing a fortune up front.

Everything he said in a junked out YJ could be done for under $7500.

What was your last rig?
What kind of buggy we talking?

If you find someone selling a set of axles with some deeper gears like 5.13s and you're gonna run an LS I wouldn't worry about a doubler. My jeep had 5.13s, 205, and a 6.0 and it was just fine. I think doublers were more needed back when people were running the old SBC that didn't have the power an LS does.

I built a tube frame buddy. 454 w th350 and 205. 60/14 with 4.56. It was plenty stout. Just looking to go fuel injected and not propane this go around.. Whats your thoughts on a 5.3 or 6.0 to th400? or stick with a 4l60 or 4l80?
