I have an opportunity to aquire a plasma cutter, it is a Miller Spectum 187...

has anyone had any experience with this unit???

is it worth getting, would it be able to cut a piece out of 1/4" steel or is 3/16" absolutely the max of this unit????

just want to know before I go forward with the purchase...

thanks for any help/advice...

Pick up a hypertherm. They are the only cutters I know of that are actually under rated. Most of them out there are over rated in what they can do. I love my powermax45. I cut through a 1.75" diameter steel shaft off with it the other day. Its only rated to half inch but it cuts half like nobodies business.

My ESAB plazma says it willl cut 1/2.

I think Esab must make 2000 watt stereo boosters for the swapmeet too.

Anyone want a deal on a used Esab plazma? :corn:

The POS eats tips faster than 1/4 inch plate.

I am not really needing to pay much for it, and it is in near perfect condition..

hmmmm.. decisions, decisions...

and, of course, it is not the only thing that I am getting in the package deal...

I just saw it and was wondering if anyone had messed around with one before...

I suppose that I could just sell/trade it off if I am not happy with it though, that is always an option.. :redneck:

but thx for the info...
