Took both heads to the machine shop this evening but didn't get a picture. The head is pretty dinged up, seat material is embedded in the head and piston but most of it went out the exhaust. Got to decide if I am going to remove the piston, hone and replace or just clean up and Scotch brite the cylinder. Damn Dodge, had planned on spending my weekend at No Mercy 7!!!!! RTR
I've rebuilt 2 5.7s this year and the first one I decided not to replace the piston and had to take it apart again and replace it. They look ok until you take it out. Usually crushes the top of the piston and top ring. I would definitely replace it. It looked ok from the top just not the side. And the cylinder wall just had a small groove in it.
