Buddy of mine blew his rear window out at KOH the last day. it sat for a whole summer like that. He used the fancy black gorilla tape though.

I got mine in the first 15 minutes on the trail at GMP, trail 7. Slid up against a rock and then got high centered and went back and forth on it a couple of times to make sure all the glass was out. I had a nice sticker collection on it too. I used a trash bag and tape the rest of the time I was there but it blew off on the way home. Figure this will do till I get some plexy or sheet metal or whatever I find to slap on there.

My dad's uncle just told us a story of hauling a Pony in an old convertible and the rear floor boards rusted out and the pony dropped through them but somehow didn't get hurt. It was way back in the day though.

Yessir! Just now got it back together. Seems to be a lot more responsive and isn't smoking at all. Those old ones did not want to come out. Had to break them down to the last layer and weld a nut in them. Then I proceeded to twist the hell out of my ankle. And to top it off, I noticed one of my trailer tires looked like this. All this before making the 9 hr drive to Harlan tomorrow. Wonder what's next...

It's stamped 248 and I looked up the bom. It's a 60 out of a 2003-04. And I went with this version because I didn't want the extra 5" of width the 05+ models have. I would have rather had a pre SD to match the rear but this was way cheaper which leaves more money for gears, locker, hubs etc.

It's always an unfortunate possibly. I think Ford stopped using a D50 in 01. My 02 has a D60 03-04 should as well. It's a fine axle.

I have an 02 just like it. Every hater on the internet immediately calls it a D50. Like Im'a spend 4hrs at a JY yanking a set of axles before I checked the BOM and Casting.. I'm ****in cheap but I ain't completely stupid ish.

Matched set HPD60/Sterling 10.50 for 350 cash... I'd go do it again if another one landed !! :woot:

Most people aren't smart enough to get a decent measurement, case in point this one I just got. Luckily it still had the BOM sticker so he sent me a picture of it and I got him to send me a picture of the casting number "248" as well. It was about an hour and a half away and I didn't want to make the drive to find a D50. I would have rather had a non SD axle but the cheapest one I have found was still almost 600 bucks more than this one so I settled I suppose. For my weak little 4L in my XJ it should do just fine. I'm currently on 38s and may step up to 40s when these die so it may even be a little overkill.

You want a sterling rear to match up to it?

Or are you just going to re-drill the unit bearings?

I really don't want to regear and lock 2 axles so I'll probably either drill it or run adapters. Most likely adapters as I run a 15" wheel and I don't think I can swap my Chevy brakes over to this.
