My truck sports a receiver style winch setup. The winch is an old bellevue winch (old warn standup style) mounted on a home built receiver base. My built front bumper has an integrated 2" receiver for the winch, and my flatbed has a receiver recessed 18" back in the bed so the winch dosnt stick out past the end of the truck for good departure angle. The winch stays in the back most of the time because its such a heavy winch, it helps get some weight in the back of the truck. Large jumper cable style conectors get power front and back. I like the set up, but the only bad thing about my setup is my winch is so heavy, trying to carry it around the truck (usualy in a mud hole or steep rock face) by yourself is tough. If I had a new modern integrated winch with synthetic rope it would be a lot lighter.
