Racial Demographics on the Board

Just curious about the demographics here on NWW... check all that apply. For instance, I am of Hispanic ethnicity and white and American Indian races, so I checked White, American Indian or Alaska Native, Hispanic, AND Two or more races...

This doesn't seem very accurate. If someone was to check black, white, and hispanic(examples), then each one of those races will get a point, meaning one person accounted for three different points.


Example:
So, when it says, 80% white on this board, that includes the people that are half black or hispanic? If everyone were part white on here, then it would end up 100% white.

You are correct... that's why I threw in the "Two or more" box. We can get a decent idea still. As a half-breed, I hate race polls that make you choose only one option. :D This is non-scientific, anyway.

Very true... I was just curious how predominant the whiteys are on here. :D So far, we have 1 black, 1 AI/AN, 1 mixed breed, and a bunch of white.

Then all of them get one point. Can't really judge the demographics of this forum by the results of this poll. It might say that 80% of people on here are white, when really, 80% of people on here, may just have a percentage of white.
Making it to where people can click one or more, only makes it less accurate.

Yes, but the only way it could make it more accurate is if something showed us the breakdown. Like, when the poll is over, and the results are in, show us how many people are half white/hispanic, or 1/3 white 1/3 black 1/3 asian, etc......

The board's poll features aren't quite that robust... I could have turned on the option to show who voted for what, but decided against it.

As I said, this isn't a scientific survey. It's just a rough estimate.
