Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

he has done tons of work to get it back in perfect shape worth every penny good luck with the sale

Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

what ratio tcase and final drive in the axles?

Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

I believe the ring and pinion is a around a 3.1 and the planetary's are 7.1 and he believe's its the highest geared atlas case. Trying to find some videos for ya!

Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

Somebody needs to find some pics of this thing on the rocks...with the wheels at full lock it will damn near spin on the inside rear tire. It was crazy capable compared to other rigs of its day.

Re: Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

Randy is one calculated driving fool! Awesome to see him pilot that rig!

Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

I was competing in that comp with my short-lived single seater. Randy crawled that crack right there and no one else could. It was amazing. You can't tell from that pic but about 1" to the left of his left front tire is a crack big enough to swallow half the buggy. There would have been dire consequences for anyone that fell in. The rig would either be stuck in a crevasse sideways pointing straight up or break in half as gravity drew it down with the left tires wedged in it.

Those tractor axles are bad ass! Almost flat across the bottom, and check out the turning radius! Does anyone know what they are from exactly?

They are cool, and I don't know the ring gear dia. or much about them, but they are flat across the bottom because the tubes are huge. Its like rockwell tubes on a d44 center which would also be almost flat across the bottom. So basically, they're not necessarily high clearance, they're just equally low across the entire axle.

Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

I have seen Randy drive this buggy several times its amazing what it will do glad to see it still together it was for sure ahead of its time back in the day

They look like the same axles that come on a JD 5420. They would be hard to break with the size of the planetary gears in them, however they are expensive. Lookup used tractor parts for these axles, they aren't cheap if you break them.

Re: Randy Torbett One Seater Buggy

I believe the front is a Ford/New Holland & the rear is a JD they are both the exact same the rear has one extra dowel that holds the planetary on
