Ok for any of y'all that r looking to do a I4 bolt shave kit , I've found the perfect inserts,1 insert did 3 gears without needing to flip the insert,I've read all the online junk and looked a pics.and none r any good there trying to sell u inserts for 80.00 $ or a hand full of carbide inerts you'll burn them up trust me . I've turned alot of gears and went through quite the inserts and $$

Anytime u see sparks ur just ruining the tool.1 company shows pics. Looks like the 4th
Most ring gears are rockwell 50-60, which is hardneed metal that's hard as hell to maching no to mention a interuppted cut

Trick is to run ur lathe slow 50-60 rpms no higher
Don't use cutting oil or water
Take 0.010-0.015 with each cut

CNMG is the insert holder. CNMG432-NR Grade IC807.
Msc has them- 22.00$
Online machinist- 13.00$
I can provide stock number if needed
Hope this helps out
