I will have more details after my friend gets off work, but here goes.

Rig late 90's early 2000's with a v8, so of course it is a Grand. He was
driving home from work and the rig dies on him. After a bit it starts up
and he drives home. In a few days the same thing happens, so he takes
it to a shop. The shop tells him it needs a new Transmission!! What??
It didn't sound right to me, so I thought I would post up and see if anyone
knows if there is a trans senor that can kill the engine if the trans is failing?

To me, I would think, bad distributor or some other engine system. Any ideas??

Lets help the kid out and save him 2K!!!

Had a 88 Dodge Power Ram 150 with the 5.2 ltr that would do that. Turned out to be the magnetic pickup in the distributor. (Piece of Sh$t Dodge.) :pissed:

Really glad the day the repo man came and got it. :D

Our 94 has a recuring issue with starting and not idleing. Its caused by the small air mixture motor on the back of the throttle body getting dirty and sticking. I take it our and clean it and works great for several months.

As a note, if the lockup Torque converter is seized/locked it will stall out. If the PCM is throwing a trans trouble code, that may be what the diagnosing tech was thinking.

Not saying it's likely, but that may have been the line of thought he was following.
