Sacramento?

Gonna be going to Sacramento in a few weeks for work for, anyone been there?

Is there anything cool to see or do there?

Been looking on the net but does not seem to be much in that area. Last time I went to San Diego/Carlsbad/Oceanside.....man it was nice down there!:awesomework:

Sacramento is just a big city, not too exciting. However, I would take a trip to Tahoe. It's not too far of a drive away, or at least head out to San Fran.

Sacramento isn't anything special. Rubicon will still be covered in snow, but I would definitely make the drive up to Tahoe. Really cool area.

Finally something I can comment on with authority.

I moved here 3 years ago FROM Sac, so I know it fairly well. What kind of stuff do you want to do?

To see old timey stuff, Sutter's Fort is downtown. The Capitol has some cool stuff outside statue wise. Old Sac is a must, they also have a train museum there.
For shopping, Arden Fair mall or K Street Mall. K street has an IMAX also to see a neat flick, or an ice skating rink that I *think* was turned into a year-round rink if you want to try that.

See if there is a Rivercats game going. It's minor league, but it's cheap and it's a REALLY nice park--any seat there is a good seat.

Nightlife.. tell me what kind of nightlife you are into. Do you want to see a live local band? Or are you looking for the hippest hotspot?

Go to Sac drag strip and look up a few guys there that I am friends with if you want to se some good grudge racing then some street races after that.

Chris Alstons chassisworks is always a neat shop to stop into and take the tour of.

Tell Chris Jr. that Darren sent ya and you will get to see all the new and unreleased stuff they are working on. :awesomework:

Make the drive into San Francisco. It's worth it. Maybe an hour & a half drive & sooooo much to see. Other than that... yeah, drive east on the 80 & see Tahoe. It's beautiful. That whole drive is really pretty. Sacramento itself is just another city in my opinion. Seattle is FAR superior.

A Napa Valley trip would be good.

If it's warm enough a trip down the American River is a blast.

South Lake Tahoe (Nevada) has all the big name casinos. And the honks are just 40 miles further in Story Co. NV.:D

I grew up there and if I did not have family there I would never go back, but there are a few good things to do in and around depending on what you are into.

Rubicon may be snow covered, but there are other areas you can get to.

Train Museum in Old Sacamento is great, but I am not impressed with old Sacramento itself.

State Capital Building as I recall is great and well worth the time to tour.

Sutters Fort, is interesting, but as an adult it was not as interesting as I thought it was as a kid.

Several Indian Casinos around the area, if you into a little gambling and a number of Card Rooms around town.

Been too many years, but used to be some good Fishing in the river, don't know how it is today.

Highway 50 to South Shore is a nice drive, and on a weekend you could also drive I think itis 49 down to Yosmite National Park.

Leave nothing showing in your car, keep it locked and parked under a street light or you will find it broken into.

Cool, thanks for the input guys. unfortunately i will only be there for 2-3 days max, and the only time i will get to venture around is after im done working during the day.

I will be runnin around with my salesman who lives in carlsbad, hes like 50 so i dunno how much runnin around he will want to do. Hopefully there is some cool stuff around the hotel we will be in (not sure which one yet) to where i can maybe take a cab or bus or something since im not old enough to rent a car.

Not really looking to go out and party just mainly sight see. If there are any cool bars in the area might have to check them out, im sure my salesmen will be down to get drunk.

When i was down in carlsbad/oceanside it was pretty sweet i was right on the beach & there was alot of little local bars,shops, and other things to see which was nice. I just dont want to sit at the hotel from the time i get done working til bed time :awesomework:

That's funny, Carlsbad is about 30 miles from us and nobody thinks there is anything to do there.:D

Well i was only there for a few days so i only got to venture around for a short time but it was a really nice town.

The second time iw as down in that area i stayed in oceanside which was pretty cool i was right across the street from the big pier (longest on west coast) and there was alot of stuff going on in that area.

Keep going East on 50 to Sunrise a couple exit's up. Head right then Left on WHITE ROCK ROAD. Couple miles down on your left there is a boat dealer. Turn into their parking lot and keep going past their building. There, you will find the most awesomest of strip clubs: GoldClub Centerfolds. :D

Don't under estimate the guys 50 and over, they may just surprise you. If your not going to have wheels, then some place close to Old Sacramento would be best for you. There are bars and such in that area and if you walk across the M Street (or Capital, or Tower) bridge you could go to a baseball game as the ball field is right there sourh of the Bridge in West Sacramento. I think they still run paddle wheelers up and down the river from Old Sacramento as dinner cruises.

What are you going to be selling while you are there?

I am going to have to ask my Brother why he has never told about this as he lives within 1/4 mile of I-50 and Bradshaw.

If yout headed to Tahoe, you might swing up the Doner Pass. This is the pass where the Doner party had gotten stuck in an early winter storm and ended eating their dead out of despiration waiting for rescue. There is a huge information center at the top, worth the stop.

Also a run up or down 101 on the coast is a most beautiful drive and would kill a day.

Oh and drive your very best, no speeding, and keep your eyes open for cops...They are all over the place and have a no tolerance policy for any driving violation...Do to poor State budgeting, ride the publics back and wallet for their F.U.'s

Don't let him try to get you into any other club in Sac. This is the only one worth while-trust me-I have spent many many many many many hours in clubs there (as a patron of course. :D )

floating/ swimming below Natomas is a mellow party experiance.

swimming above Folsom lake is a real E ticket adrenalin experience. but if your up to it swimming from Placerville to Salmon Falls bridge is something you'll never forget. stay out of the south fork unless your a realy good whitewater swimmer. it kills rookies every year.
