Hi All:
Was wondering if anyone know whether the spline count of the output shaft (where the pitman arm mounts) of Saginaw PS gearboxes are usually the same, across various applications, or are unique to each brand (GM, Jeep, etc.) that Saginaw supplied with PS gearboxes?
Why do I ask? I have a Saginaw four bolt, 4.25 turn PS gearbox from a late 1960s GM passenger car (IIRC a '68 Buick Riviera) in my FJ40. I have been using the pitman arm that came on the gearbox, but would like to switch to another pitman arm.
So I need to determine whether the spline count and diameter of the output shaft of this Saginaw PS gearbox is the same as the one that came in a CJ7 (for example) to figure out what vehicles may be donors for a longer pitman arm.
Thanks for any help!
Regards,
Alan
