I think it would be awesome if this forum came back. I don't think even pirate 4x4 is near as big as it was. Social media has killed off a lot of things.

I haven't been active on here ever really (see post count) , but I am more of a lurker than a poster. As such, I find forums to be about a million times more useful than Facebook or Instagram. I have actual people I can speak to in the real world if I just want to be social, but a tech thread on a forum is can be useful 10 years down the road. I see a lot of forums withering away, but they still have a lot of value in my opinion.

I would have to totally agree with what you said. I am not much of a FB person, sure I have an account and have whittled down my "Friends" to people I truly know and the ones we want to to wheelin or out to dinner, drink a few adult pops we are going to text.
Going to forums these days (the ones that are still up and active) are good for factual tech how to and invaluable when its a Sunday and no ones at the dealership.
Any way to track actual activity i.e. how many people are clicking on site threads or logging in daily or weekly? I got to imagine that covid or not, summer is not the time to be sitting behind your computer. Maybe fall or winter people would check back in?

I would hope you would give it a chance still to see if there is a chance for it to survive. It was hard enough to walk away from what I built but I simply didn't have the time. One thing bookface cannot match though in forums is the tech.

I chose it should die, not for any bad reason but I think as much as I have been apart of this place and all that we have done together times change. life changes and we either change with it or smolder in the ashes of whats left behind. The forum has now long not even smoldered its cold dry ashes blowing in the wind of change and soon the ashes will all be gone with the rest of us. I guess from old memories and one from an old member maybe we should ask ourselves....what would Nuzzy do?

I have not always posted a lot, but I have always enjoyed coming here for tech, questions, information... Pooh’s babes post of course...
I have made many connections and friends over the years.
my junk has been sitting since around the end of 2007/2008 after my dad died... so it kind of got put on the back burner.
my plans are to hopefully get it back on the road, but trying to get my house finished and new shop built first.

but I would like to see it stick around. I have always checked in for new posts and such.

i parted my wheelin rig in 2014. i dont come here for the tech. my interests shifted..hunting/scouting/exploring are more my style now. we have quads and go go the dunes. soon to have a SXS.. they are the rage now. if anything would jumpstart this place it would be that.IMO. SXS info and tech. if we can get them people here we can teach them not to be douchbags in the forest/make bypasses/ tear up meadows and that kinda stuff...

it has been a long time since I have looked at a wheeling forum. I am no longer able to handle a FSR let alone a trail. I dream about them almost daily. anyone interested in buying a bronco or two?? I think this forum can be a great resoure. Good luck and take care.

I had totally forgotten about this site until I got this email... Its a great idea but so many other things have taken its place.
Maybe try to incorporate it into FB and such to tie it all together to get the most out of it as possible.

I will say this, I know the Muzzleloader forum I'm on is still active, So I think it could still be a good source just need to find a way to keep people active on the forum.
Something else they do not sure if you can it send out a daily email message of what threads had comments posted to it along with any new threads as well.

I had to give up 4wheeling 5 years ago due to heart disease. As a result I sold my 4x4s and retired to Arizona. I've enjoyed this forum, but have no use for being reminded of a sport that I was involved in since 1957 - in fact it hurts to think about it.

Forums are such a goldmine of information and it would be a shame to see that data get lost. The several FB post I am on regularly refer people to forum posts. Agreed that probably they should stay technically and local for sale focused maybe? FB tends to not police itself very well and there are too many trolls. In a forum it just seems better.

Facebook groups are great and all. But if you want to search for tech info and the like, these forums are necessary. fb groups get cluttered and hard to navigate.

I did Facebook while my son was deployed to Afghanistan but haven't kept up with it at all since he returned. While active wheeling this was, along with other sites our information center.
I am waiting to get either my jeep together and sold or get back to wheeling and this site will be a place I visit (if around).

Honestly I'd keep it for the information that can be/is valuable to people. There's some info that can help someone. As mentioned, forums as a whole are dying and trying to get people to go to a website to talk, with fb, mewe, ig, etc etc out there... it's impossible.

I met and wheeled with allot of fine folks from this forum. Made some great friends because of it. I've been out of the industry for a few years, but I'm coming back! Time to wheel again! The change in the format and the advertisements are what killed it for me.

I don't mind a cycling banner ad at the top of the page, but don't spam me with bull ****.

The format change one could get used to, but there simply isn't enough traffic to keep me interested. Other social media platforms have ruined forums. It truly sucks. Even when you do post something cool, it either doesn't get viewed or responded to, or you don't get constructive (or destructive) criticism on it. Tech is dead even on the big boards like PBB (cough cough IBB).

I used to be a member on a ****load of 4x4 forums. The only one I truly follow anymore is the IBB.

As for NWW, the core group of people that kept this place alive moved on to other things in life. They didn't just ditch NWW, they found other things to do and other media sites to follow that were "new and hip". Especially after Reiter closed in 2009, that was the beginning of the end. It's sad really. I've enjoyed wheeling trips organized from here both local, and to other states/areas, rescue missions, help fixing **** around the house, parties, and a great place to restore my sanity when I needed the help.

As somebody was never very active on this board, i probably don't have much of an opinion. Facebook is trash and I don't fully care to understand IG, easy enough to just log in and like photos, but damned if i can make sense of it or comments/threads over there.

when pirate **** the bed totally, i moved a bunch of tech stuff over to 4x4north which is canadian focused because it was offered as a place to store information. then irate4x4 came in to play, turns out, i don't really have the energy for "multiple" forums. i'm on irate for the chit-chat and north for continuing and storing tech.

local boards are awesome and i hope that this one does well, but i'm not likely to contribute much. i've probably only got another year or so living in the PNW as it sits and my pile of tubes won't be wheelable before i leave sadly.

With at least a couple times a week cleanup of spam from moderators and a handful of active users, there is no reason why this board can't be great again. I wish it much success :beer: forums are the superior format for this stuff/tech/trip reports/etc. and i think that as reddit implodes and facebook continues to decline, forums that can string along are poised to do well, or at very least, better

While I rarely check in here, I do from time to time swing by and check for deals for my projects. Not sure if this can be revived, as there is not the traffic that used to be here, but if possible it could be a great tool for swapping and selling parts. With FB taking over everything, not sure if it would be worth the work.

I love the forums and do not have a bookface account. However I only ever use forums Like this one for the tech info and build threads. I never comment or get too involved with what people are saying or doing. I do have a thread on another forum iH8mud about my build but it’s not much info as it just takes so much time to post and edit. I am more into overlanding than pure wheeling so I don’t respond or look for posts about trail rallies and such. I appreciate the info and services that this forum provided during my research for my build. But I know these things cost time and money and since I am not willing to provide either to this cause I won’t ask another to do so for me. I hope that forums never die but I fear they are for the Atari generation and require to much effort to navigate for all the lazennials these days.

Wow. It is true, Boards like this are few today. I am glad that this one has continued. Tough thing to answer, I am selfish and want this to stay around so I have somewhere to hang out from time to time. On the other hand tough to watch it's slow down. I know some still come and post. I unfortunately have not wheeled or browsed NWW for along time. Won't lie, don't spend much time on FB or any of the other social formats. Most of my time is doing family oriented things. Hoping to change that in the near future. Maybe even see some of you out on some trails. With those words. I hope it sticks around.

I like forums for all the information one could find in them, and the chats that would go on. You can't get that in Facebook, even with a group page.

I still have my FJ40, but I don't get out on the trails with it anymore :confused:

Tough call. I hate FB groups. There's a ton of the same groups all over FB all whining about why the other groups suck. There's no real easy way to search anything on there and the same jackwagons ask the same repetitive questions and telling them to Google search or check a forum (what's a forum...?) gets all the internet gangsters up in arms attacking. If the forums stay online then the in depth information will always be available. Hell, I still go thru 4x4wire, yotatech and t4r.org for tech. Plus, with what's available on YouTube, you don't even have to read!

Anyways, long story short, keep it online for tech. As far as a meeting place? Meh...

Yeah, keep the forum for Tech and let all the social garbage happen on FB. I hate it for the same reason I like it, easy accessibility.

I haven’t been an active participant for years as I have moved away. Tough call. I still use forums to find out about specific issues because Youtube and all the others are general. Where else can I ask a specific questions about my 3.4L fuel injector issue after first being advised it’s a plugged cat and to gut the cat :) Now I just have a thoatier exhaust......

I am not sure how to answer this. As you mostly know. I didn't even know it took on new ownership, so that tells you how active I became. I was never a part of the "tech" I was always the "Mom" I pretty much hung out here in the Chatterbox. I didn't offer much other than encouragement to be bad and post bad pictures :p Sadly. Threads like Poohs will always bring more attention.. Cause.. ****s. I have them. I know how wonderful they are. The truth or dare thread was AMAZING. But even trying to jump start the old memories, failed for me. Short of walking through naked, I'm not sure I have much to offer. I stopped logging in when things died off. Reiter closing was huge. Facebook taking over was huge. But there will never be better memories than all of the NWW get togethers and all the people we met. Organizing clean ups was amazing. Getting the community together to try and save the areas was so much fun. But now I watch how hard my husband struggles to try and get people involved in the "New Reiter" and it saddens me. So the bottom line I guess. Does it bring you happiness? I'd hate to see it totally go, but it's your call. I agree. The tech is not going to be found on Social Media. But if you can jump start this again. It was an amazing place and I loved it for many years.
