What happened that caused this board to be started?

Not much happening on the old "S" board.

And what is going on with Pirate? No more search feature?

I had a vasion and with the other BBS my hands were tied (one reason why a BBS should never be tied to a club). But I have since left the club and have since put my vision forthward and-----my vision is happenening. But its only a start (the BBS was born in april).
But it also boils down to having great mods to help me in the journey :D

As for POR--where ya been :D

Better Group of people w/o hang up's of being better than everyone else. is what i think started this site up, where as S was originally a group that allowed others to join in... this isn't a Specific group site. more so a site for all & any type of rig to share & enjoy.

Pay $$$ on Pirate & you can search thru piles of Garbage there.

i like nww because it has much more of a flavor of the old 4x4xNW email list. more smack talking with the occasional good bit of tech thrown in here and there :redneck:

after this thread the "S" board pretty much started going down hill from there. it was a sign of the times.

as for pirate..didn't your read the disclaimer? it said that pretty much because of the non star people using too much bandwidth they had to offer the search feature to people only with red stars. personally i just think lance was using that as an excuse to get more money

This board is by far the funnest to hang around on......I have 3 times more posts here then 7 other boards combined...including S and P!!

Thanks to Crash for keepin this one on earth and open to any and all rigs and wheelers.

I'm starting a new project and will be posting a BU thread on NWW exclusively cos I know I'll get good as well as lots of sarcastic feedback....... with little or NO bashing or flaming.

i would have to agree with the rest. this board is fun to be on. its just one huge family with a few retarded kids and some really sick freaks but all in all its pretty cool.

I see nothing wrong with this...

Pirate had become a business way before this decision was made...I would have made it much quicker myself...

Ive noticed a lot more good natured folks here. I pretty much stopped going to that other board once I found this one. It took me a while to find this one too because the other board was all pissy about it and wouldnt let anyone link to it. I finally found a link though, and Im sure glad I did.

As soon as I came on here, I noticed the board moving faster with more activity, a nicer environment, better looking aesthetically, and just a better experience over all. I used to be on some other forums for my other hobbies (raced AutoX and so on), and I used to be addicted to those forums, always checking what was new and so on. I NEVER had that feeling with the other board, I just didn't care. I figured about the only good thing there was the classifieds, and honestly thats the only reason I go back. Not to mention the boards names meaning. Thats such a lame name for an off road team IMO.

I just hope that this board isn't SO good that it starts attracting the same kind of people who were on the other board... The shady sketchy guys if you know what I mean.

Anyway, I hope to stick around here for a while, I like this board, and Ive done more with people from this board in the past few months than I EVER did with anyone from the other boards. Actually, come to think of it, I had only been to one other clean up that I heard about on the other board. Thats it. Ive been on multiple wheeling trips, went to the clean up, and even met some good friends through here already. Im glad this place came to be.

PS - You can still search Pirate. Just use Google. Type in "site:www.pirate4x4.com" without the quotes, and then the search term you're looking for. I was doing it all last night looking for York information.

For example:

I don't neccessarily think one BBS is better than the other. I think they just want different things. This board does cater to all aspects of wheeling from stock to buggy. A lot of BSing does go on here because it's fun for many of us. We get to be part of an online community, organize get togethers, and make friends. Just because that doesn't seem to be what other boards in the area are interested in doing doesn't make them bad. It just means those creators and moderators want something different than what most of us come here for. Nothing wrong with that.

I personally really like the environment Mike has created/allowed here. I like the friends I've met and the aquaintinces I've made. It's a great place to hang out... :cool:

I think thats what makes this board so special. people who normally dont post much on other sites and coming out of the closet here. more people are becoming active with this site unlike others just because its feels like one big family:cool: hell even the mods from the other site are here because they want to be part of the "IN" crowd and not feel left out:flipoff:
