Dude, I've given you ample time to make your first payment on the Subaru I sold to you on payments. I'd much rather have rallied it up to Evans and killed it than sell it for $200. You owe me $900. Pay up!

Cliff notes: I decide to be an idiot and sell my car on NWW to a guy who has more posts than me to help him out, trusting in the essential decency of the white man's culture. Dude promises me regular payments with a quick payoff. Pays a downpayment of $200 on a $1100 car and doesn't make another payment for at least 2 months if not 3. Dude owes me $900. I'm stupid for trusting someone.

Gabe, I'm willing to work with you still. But you've got to get me some cash.

Lol, you're the one who owes the dude money... and you're all "****ing wow..." after he called you out on it publicly. If you're making payments on an 1100 dollar car, it sounds like your word is pretty close to all you got, so you might want to keep that intact at least by paying the guy when you say you will. :rolleyes:

Never give up the ***le until you have all the money. If the cash doesn't show up, call the cops and get your car back. Better yet don't take payments, $1100 isn't that much, payments shouldn't be needed. Sorry you're getting screwed. Some people are just losers and can't keep their word.

unfortunately I went through just this:mad:

Sold a:mad:(former) good friend a truck for $3k on payments while I kept the ***le in my name. He proceeded to tow a trailer into downtown Seattle in the rain on those hills, jack knifed the truck/trailer going down the hill wiping out meters and 3 cars in the process one of them being a brand new BMW. I found out he had no insurance on any of his vehicles, needless to say I was told to cut ties with the truck skipping work and going to the dmv to transfer the ***le. I got lucky and over time he did pay me back, but I will never relinquish vehicle without payment and signing over the ***le. As long as the vehicle is in your name you are going to be held responsible for damages unless the guy is a stand up fellow:haha: and takes responsibility. And if he can't afford 1100 he isn't going to afford paying for damages done in a wreck heaven forbid somebody dies in a wreck.

You can get a generic loan contract on line and it will be legally binding. You then allow the purchaser to transfer the ***le to their name with you as the lien holder. I've done it in the past but it is probably way to much work for an 1100 dollar car.

I went through this also. I was found financially responibe for an accident and the state of Wa pulled my drivers license until it was cleared up.

My parents went through a similar situation, yes you can write up a legal document, have it notarized and its legally binding. But when the person borrowing money wrecks the car, or gets it towed (that was our case) to have anything done it ends up in court. So now you've got court fees, time off work, etc...

So in the end even if you protect yourself its just not worth it. The best way to protect yourself is to not put yourself in the situation in the first place.

I had sold a four runner and when I sold it I just assumed I would not get the money and gave them the ***le, because I did not want to be connected to the ***le if something happened.

I had a 510 I sold on payments get impounded. Dude had already fallen off face of the earth in paying me back, so I paid the impound fee, and got it back. It had broke down on 520, I was out a couple hundred, but then fixed and re-sold it.

I also had a truck that I sold where the guy never changed the ***le get stolen from him, and was caught in act of stealing a boat. Glad I filed the report of sale, although it was unnerving to have Everett PD pounding on my door at 6:00am on a Saturday:D

I remember seeing that Subaru for sale, was considering it. If it comes up for sale again, let me know!:fawkdancesmiley:

Regarless of "legally binding", if there's a law suit, the lawyers will name everyone involved, and pursue whoever they can get $$ from. Been there, bought that lesson.

I have done business with Rus, wheeled with Rus, and met Rus's wife. I know him and his family to be very stand up and honest. They are really good people. If he came on here and posted about you owing him money or a car, I am going to go with that story.

With all the drama you have added in this you could have gave your story instead.

Why would this man need to come to Eugene to get the car back? That sounds like a real stand up way of handling this.
