A guy at work is trying to find out what the backspacing is on an early model rubicon(his rig) 16" rims with stock BFGs with the 5x4.5 b.p. is and the backspacing on a 17" rim with stock BFGs from a newer JK with the 5x5" b.p. (new rims and tires he's picked up)

He's trying to figure out whether or not the new rims/larger tires with adapters will rub at full turn or not...

Stock 03 to 06 Rubicons had 16x8 rims with 5" backspacing and 245/75R16 Goodyear MTRs. 07 and up have 17" rims, but I don't know the specs on them...

TJ axles (Rubi and non rubi) have adjustable steering stops on the knuckle. It is pretty common to install what ya' got and then adjust the stops to eliminate rubbing.

In my recollection, most front axles do not have this adjustable stop feature.

Putting 07 thru 08 wheels on a TJ/LJ based rig will work with a spacer/adapter. With the spacer/adapter, 5x4.5 to 5x5, you will be close to the stock backspacing needed for the TJ/LJ based rigs with that set up.
