I thought hi lifts were just a counterweight for JK/TJ hoods because the front ends are so light ? No ?

Lol, I didn't mean your method was random. There's a fella on youtube named Grant Thompson aka King of Random. Just thought it was odd of that was you but apparently that's not the case.

What am I Googling?

I've used the hi-lift for years to break beads, sometimes a little lube needed… I believe I'll give the cherry picker a go next time! great idea

What's so sketchy about it? :dunno: It's not like the wheel is going to launch into space. Just pull on it until you hear the bead starting to move on the wheel. Couple good smacks with a mallet and the bead is broke. I'm just a broke :JRich: so I don't have the backhoe option. But I could have two wheels broken down before you could get the tractor started anyway. laughing1 Sketchy works good for me.

It's really not sketchy at all. Works great, ultimately, you gotta use what works for you, based on what tools you have at your disposal.

weld a lugnut same size as you use on your rig onto a 1 ton gm truck scissors-jack so you can use a impact wrench or drill to raise and lower it. it's safer and easier than a hi-lift. I am continuously amazed at how strong they are. works great for breaking beads and for changing a tire with the quickness

I love those jacks!

The ones from early 90s dodge caravans are pretty sweet also, they already have a 3/4 hex on them, and a cool little bracket/nest they set in.

I manager a commercial tire shop and we keep them on our trucks for doing service work on small passenger and light truck tires rather than swinging a hammer and ATV tires.

Ive used a high lift many times. When it starts lifting the rig and the bead hasn't broke, I hit the tire with a sledge and it pops. I won't stand on the tire because I dig being bipodal.

I always just toss a trailer ramp on the tire and drive up it, you put it so the end of the ramp is at the bead. Can break 2 beads at 1 time w a Buick if ya want.
