Tips and suggestions needed on putting up a fence

Me and my wife have planned on doing a pool and things got started 5 months ago on getting it lined up for this year. Well I thought I had a good layout for a fence but people just look at me like wtf when they step in the back yard and i go to pointing where the corners of the fence will be. My idea came from looking at google map shot of yard. Which doesnt matter because no one sees that point of view. I thought run it west to east with the shop and the lot. House is on the end of street sitting at an angle so it just messes things up.

Heres a shot of the house looking from shop.

My dad suggested this

I dont really like it b/c it has the fence right at pool and we have a big yard so I dont want it all crammed up to the house.

Another idea.

Any body got any ideas or comments about my layout in the first sketch? That probably what ill do except with 2 8' gates and 1 4' gate.
Going with an aluminum powder coated black fence similar to iron fence.

Heres the fence.

anyone ever done one. i want the top level but yard is probably far from level on all 3 sides. Whats the key to gettting it flat on top? Cut the bottom rods off to match the yard?

If you have the equipment there and you can do it without hauling dirt in, I would level the fenced in area with a very slight slope away from the house and pool. It will look a lot better in the end.

Three thoughts

1. Screw what other people think.
2. Think about how you will mow the grass inside the fence. If you rider mow leave gaps of grass large enough for your deck around the corners etc.
3. Think about a high end turf inside the fence so you don't have any maintenance.

Nice place.

I put up fence for about five summers with my grandpa. Hardest job I ever had... Do the fence however you want, your fence your money! Would suggest plenty of gates, depending on if you use certain areas of the property,;, as far as keeping them level; by the looks of your yard is not too bad anyway, i would do it like we did chain link.. start by putting your cornerpost in all the way around, each run of fence put a string from the top of one cornerpost to the top of the other. From there just put section by section keeping your string even with the top your fence, luckily your yard is not too bad not sure how much you can cut up on those, But digging a tiny little trench would be nothing. Will look good. Nice place. Might as well go ahead and consider some Roundup, if you try waiting around that fence you will destroy it or the finish anyways. Now that I have a landscaping company, we always spray the Fenceline, weedeating that type of fence is the WORST by far. Good luck

I'd level everything up inside the fence and about 2' outside the fence line, mulch along the fence looks nice and keeps weedeating to a minimum. I'd keep it to where I could make even laps with the mower inside the fence. Looks like a nice place, when's the hardline pool party? :drinkers:

If you have kids put the fence around the pool it self. This gives you the freedom to let them or you use the yard with out fear of anyone falling in the pool. I have a pool in my backyard and we play soccer back there too. I have a solid fence around the yard and nothing around the pool, needless to say we have a ball in the pool all the time. Use an wrought iron fence or picket style around the pool it will look awesome. Just my 2 cents. Looks awesome though, enjoy

thanks for the tips. kushKrawlin i never thought about digging out the high spots in the yard but i bet thats what will happen because I aint worth a crap on the tractor trying to level the yard. the way this fence is I cannot set all the posts bc the panels slide in the post then post slides on panel and you work your way around.....unless ive missed something. Not sure about even lawnmower passes either. its gonna have triangles so im screwed anyways.
as far as when is the hardline pool party.....well i hear you guys leave alot of trash on the trails so i may have to hold off on that one lol

Well after a long wait thanks to a certain fence company :flipper: SENTINAL FENCE....I finally got all my parts 2 months after the order and with 2 additional shipments b/c they cannot read an order. I've never put up a fence much less one this crazy so I'd say my first time was successful. I just let it follow the ground by putting 2x4s under it and went from there to make the tops straight by shimming as needed. Between working overtime and the storms it has taken me 2 weeks to put up. I hung a 8' gate and the arch gate today and gotta let a post cure for a few more days and the last 8' gate will go in and ill be DONE. This has been a heck of a project to say the least.

This gate wasnt really planned out to be on a 45 across the corner but as luck has it the original corner post hole had the service lines goin to my shop about 15" deep and dead center of the hole.....and the next post to the right had comcast line 4" deep. Plan B: put the gate on a 45 and that turned in to a few days after work of cutting, grinding fitting etc til i had the posts able to turn on a 45. Odd thing is with it this way it was perfect numbers on the panels and i didnt have to trim none.
