If you had to do it all over again what would be your top five things you would change or add on your wheeler?:eeek::corn:

Hi All:

O.K., I'll play. For my FJ40:

1) Orion t-case;

2) Spring-over suspension;

3) Fuel-injected V-8;

4) Air Lockers;

5) Longfield CVs (aka Birfields.)

Regards,

Alan

Ya me too,

1. LS V8

2. cromo axle shafts

3. ARBs front and rear

4. Easy to remove panels and better ways to doing maintenance.

5. Better visibility from the driver seat

These are all the reasons I stripped my buggy and started over.

If I could start again, I'd forget the body and just bend up some tube. It's tough holding back on some stuff I don't want to put the lj body through.

But as far as five changes I need to make:
1. upgrade the rear links (5 years on tractor links, they're getting sloppy :redneck: )
2. change the position of the radiator, so it's not blowing hot air over the fuel cell.
3. change the 4-1 case out for a 6.5-1 again.
4. rebuild the cage
5. rework the seats to get some more leg room.

1st. Turbo Diesel
2nd. T-case gears (in one or both)
3rd. Longs
4th. Coils
5th. built the flat bed a little differant (with a dump).

Overall I'm still VERY happy with my rig, even after 4+ years of wheeling it. If I were starting over, I would have done more front stretch right off that bat and moved the steering box and everything in the beginning, rather than contemplating everything I need to change if I were to do it now.

1. V8... Ford? Chevy? Chrysler? I dunno... The 4.0L runs good, but it just doesn't have the poop to do what I want sometimes.

2. 4 link instead of playing with leafs.

3. I would've worked harder to keep a soft top fittable.

4. at least a detroit in front instead of a spool, so I can actually turn. That's coming soon.

5. double-ended ram instead of single (see previous)

1- Toyota axles
2- longer springs
3- fuel injection/ bigger engine
4- powersteering
5- selectable locker

Everything but the engine is in the works. Wish I would have just listened to many folks an done the Toyota axles to start. I may get some snow wheeling in

1. Should have skipped the yota mini truck axles and gone straight to fj80 front and 9" rear.

2. Kept the roof on so snow wheeling was more enjoyable.

3. Not taken the 38's off so they wouldn't have been stolen.

4. Should have never dovetailed it, that was the begining of the end.

5. Shouldn't have parted it out but it sat while I threw cash at it and never used it.
On the bright side I made money on everything I sold which kept the lights on at the
house. :D

There's not too much I'd change.

1: Bolt the Front bumper on, not weld it.
2: Do the wiring for the lights, pump, cb etc, "cleaner".
3: Build a baja tire gate instead of the roof rack for the tire.
4: Use factory nose parts instead of Chinese crap
5: lockers! Which are still a ways off.

It's my first vehicle, and I've had it almost 6 years, and that's all I'd change.

1. 4 link
2. ls v8
3. 4 door cab instead of standard cab!
4. not buy the old design front trail gear driveline kit.
5. clean up the mounting of the brake lines

this is more of a to do list! hahaha
