So my buddy has a first gen Yota truck that someone swapped in a 87 22r a few years ago and it's still running the 20r points style distributor. So problem is now it won't start after sitting for a month or two. He asked me about it and of course I said hell it can't be much involved to swap to the later model electronic distributor- like I really know. So what is the best way to get rid of the points style and get this thing running again?

kinda spendy but is all new parts and has a warranty

the other way is junkyarding a vacuum toyota distributor, ignitor, and coil. then figure out the wiring to the ignitor. And worst of all hoping that all of these parts (that are old enough to drag home from the bar and bang like a screen door in a hurricane) are still good

find a good matched set , dist and igniter , ground in the igniter base and just need one switched power wire for ignition.. not to hard, one of the plugs are tach signal. one is power and ground. .
