Hardline Crawlers - Rock Bouncer Builds, Tech & Off-Road Trail Talk

Help Support Hardline Crawlers:

looks like a long trip, nice rig, and lots of fun. Welcome to the area, and thanks for bringing the sunshine with you, it's supposed to be nice all week.

I haven't had any non driver induced issues with the TG tie rod ends. I bumped a rock going "fast" and broke the passenger TRE, steering arm pin and trunnion bearing. I am swapping in the trunnion bearing eliminator kit today. The Marlin 25mm pins won't fit in my arms, I have a set sitting on my bench right now that I can't use.

This is a touch late but we machined my 6 shooter knuckles and pressed the 25mm pins on. I am pretty pleased with how they turned out and is a pretty sweet set up. I am not the biggest fan of Trail gear **** either but I do like a few of there products.

I am looking to do the same with my arms. I am willing to drive and buy beer lol.

Got some headers and steel timing chain guides for my 22re. I am also going to throw some new rod bearings in while its apart.

Well instead of a rebuild I got a running engine for $250. Getting the engine ready for propane, just need a few more things to get it in the truck. Also added some tube and mocked up some window nets.

The 25mm setup is a direct fit for the original Marlin 6 stud billet arms. The trail garbage cast 6 stud arms use the stock size pin so they have to be machined to fit. The 25mm bearings are a special deal. I want to say they are a different bearing with a steeper ramp angle that Marlin has special made but it's been so long that detail could be wrong.

I realize this is an old thread BUT the Koyo bearing is out of Kawasaki Triple trees and can be gotten from places other than Marlin. Just an FYI to people. I sourced them for myself years ago when Marlin was on like 6 month Backorder.

Well, yea this happened lol. Anyone wheeling tomorrow?

So I didn't have anything to step on to get in my truck. I got some inspiration from one of my sons race cars.

No more lock hubs for this guy. I also picked up some beadlocks off Craigslist for cheap.

I finally got this thing out for a proper shake down run. I had to fix some minor issues throughout the day but overall everything worked well. I really need a windshield of some sort.

Good looking rig.

Going to race in the PNW Offroad Racing Series this year?

Thanks. Yea I am going to try and do the short course race in June at Straddlelin. I am going to also try and put together a small endurance style race if I can get some guys interested. Nothing big just pick a local trail system, put on a helmet, one rig races at a time, fastest time wins!

Good luck getting a permit to race on any Govt owned trail system.

It won't be anything official, just some people wheeling with time in mind. When I lived in NC me and 5 other rigs did a similar race in Uwharrie National Forest. All the coordination was done via the interweb, it's a run what you brung race.We met at the trailhead, walked the designated route, went over the previously discussed rules, pick names out of a hat for start positions, one rig on the course at a time, put on helmets and harnesses, 3,2,1 go!! No need to envolve the government, I know those people and any more organized than the above mentioned and the will want to be involved, so keep it small and simple. Just for fun.

Man I thought your front end looked familiar this afternoon. But the last time I looked at this thread your truck was still the red color.

Great meeting you today, and YES...wet and cold. Just finally warming up.

Hope to see you out on the trails this spring.

Mark

Nice meeting you guys too. The sun came out about 20 minutes into my drive home lol.

I got my hood cut up. I still need to drill holes for hood pins, paint it and clean it up some.
