v-10 dodge!???? $4000

i need to know everything everybody knows about a 1996 dodge ram v-10 man. with pto and 241 trans case...looks like d80rear...d60 front.

135k on v-10 i want to know everything good and bad about the v-10. i know that its a 300hp plus with 455ft.torque good power! bad gas!
 
1996 white dodge ram 2500 standard cab long bed 8.0 liter V10 manual transmission 4x4 139,000 miles with a 6" suspension superlift. The interior is in very good condition with A/C, power windows, power door locks, tilt wheel and cruise control. It has a spray in bedliner and has the holes drilled for a 5th wheel. The truck has a tow package and has enough power to pull just about anything. 35x12.5 tires on 15" inch wheels. One year old full exhaust system. It has a Pioneer CD player with Clarion 6x9s. It is a Canadian model so there are less emissions and more power.

Sharp rig. I'm sure someone on craigslist would trade you some stockers for those super cool tail lights, haha. How is the lift done in the front and back? New coils or just spacers? Hopefully easy to remove some, but you might end up with some rubbing from those tires.

Oh, and leave the shiny rocker **** on there, it looks awesome. :puke:

PS there's somebody at work that has one just like that, with the V10 too I think... it says "Cowboy Cadillac" in the rear window... so how could you go wrong? I mean c'mon, it's a Cowboy Cadillac. :redneck:
 
I liked my V10. Didn't like the gas so much. But never any complaints personally about the truck. Mine had 238K and ran like a raped ape.
 
Friend of mine had one blow up pulling his 5th wheel home from oregon dunes last year, this is the first time i have herd anything remotely bad about them
 
I had one towing a 37ft fith wheel it got around 7-8 mpg driving around town no trailer 12-14 good power mine had a 5 speed and dual 3" exaust with flowmasters sounded very different from the normal
 
cost of gas is going to kill ya.
do you already have a commuter car or is this going to be your new daily driver?

wow, 12-14 is better than i thought.
 
oh hell no....i could not afford to drive any truck as my daily driver....but it will have to be for a couple of months. In he spring summer and fall I dual sport it up....I am trying to make my jeep some what street legal and I can drive that sometimes also. I test drove that v-10 last night and the power was unreal....just wanted to see if anyone had some input before I jumped on it.

I picked up a cummins for 7500, just wait to get a real tow rig.

After driving that biotch, i'm damn sure I could pull just as well as a cummins, same everything except the motor, I want to know if anyone has heard of any problems with the motor....how long could you expect it to last, any well known issues?

No, you couldn't.


But the V10 will pull fine. For longevity, I don't know if mine was rare or not but like I said it had 238K without any rebuild.
 
so after your loaded up it looses alot of girth or what...these are the things I need to know....I know it threw my back in the seat like matts old dodge...but no...I haven't pulled with it...downfalls?
 
The torque just isn't in the same ballpark. My V10 planted me in my seat too off the line, and driving around with just the truck I was NEVER at a loss for power. But towing relies so much more on the torque curve which is far different in the diesels. With the V10 while towing, it takes longer to get to it's peak torque and even then it's less than the diesel.

With that said, the V10 pulled a trailer and vehicle just fine, both flat and the hills around my house. But when towing a load, it doesn't feel nearly the same as when you're romping around with the truck by itself.

This was my experience stock vs stock: The V10 will beat up on the CTD while driving around w/o trailer. Add a trailer and the the V10 will fall on it's face far more than the CTD, and the diesel will be much more responsive while pulling. But in the end, both will tow a rig on a trailer.

Of course, once you add a tuner, the diesel wins no contest in both situations.
