Walker Valley Jeep Cross excavation / reroute

I'll be up there sometime around 5-6pm. I believe Elyse will have the yellow tilt-bed, so we'll need someone to bring down the dump bed. (I'll have my jeep with me)

Also, please take a look at the thread summary. I've outlined the goals for this work party, and hopefully its clear to all.

Talked to Ron last night, and he's gonna be getting ahold of me today as soon as he talks to his boss (that's the 1% holding him back from 100% commitment!:D)...:awesomework:

Got the call from Ron, and he is all ours for Sat, and Sunday if needed and we have the work for him!!!! NOW we must find a way to get more material moved up to the landing to keep him busy all weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok about the machine rental. Its it by the day, or by the hour?

I would totally be willing to come up friday night and get in the way or pretend that I know how to operate an excavator. If we had 3 rigs hauling rock for 3 hours friday night with excavators at the pit and at the landing, I think we could get enough rock for saturday. We could also use the DNR dump trailer and Bobcat to get some more small rock staged friday night.

I asked about a 10k-12k with a thumb and the salesman said something about a 120 which is a bit bigger, he's going to call me back......I'm fairly sure we will get one if there's one available. Getting things cheap/ free means getting what's not rented out at the time. Beggers can't be choosers. If I do get one they will deliver it Friday which means I may have to camp/ babysit it over night as I don't want it vandalized.....

I't's looking iffy right now for me to get this machine. More than likely if I do get one it won't have a thumb. May be able to get a machine with a blade to aid in scooping up rocks, would this be worth our while?......I hate being last minute with these things but like I said it's a matter of what's available when the time comes.

I understand completely about hating last minutes stuff, but it is greatly appreciated that the offer to help is there to begin with...
The only issue with scooping, is they still need to come out of the bucket, and there's not a lot of control without the thumb as I am sure you're aware when trying to load them into something...

you know you wanna camp 'n drink with us friday night :awesomework:

Where am i gonna park the truck trailer and rig on that tiny landing where it isnt in the way?:eeek:

Im totally down for it just dont wanna have to leave my junk in the main lot a long ways away from me where it can be broken into:awesomework:

How accessable is this landing? If we were to camp could I get a tow rig with trailer and camper up there?

parking along that road is better we have to get the trucks with the dump trailers turned around and dumped on the landing we are already having to do 3pt+ turns and jackknife the trailers to do this it will require an even tighter turn now with the big rock we pulled off the trailer last saturday but there are places to park along the way and still be in eye sight if that is your concern..
having a bucket without out a thumb is cool for getting the smaller rock(backing rock) out of the pit and into the trailers especially if we don't have the bobcat plus the bobcat wasn't really able to get a whole lot i am not sure if it was the angle the operator had the bucket or just the bucket size and engine power it worked ok but not too great (let me explain this better the bobcat was ok for 2"minus but couldn't scoop the hand size rock!!)

jakob, kevin gave me your number and Alsye's number i will be in contact with you both this afternoon i will pick up the trailer some time tomorrow that isn't a problem today starts my 30 day vacation :awesomework::cool:

What I'd do is turn around at the landing and then camp at a smaller landing within eye-distance (its where they put the skid-tower for logging). This will allow us to put stuff up at the top, while being close.

Matt.. the place I'm talking about is where Devin off-loaded his excavator. I think that spot would fit 3 or so campers/rigs.

So driving there with a tow rig is not an issue?

correct. I towed my jeep to the landing last week. the BR mainline gate will be open as well. They graded it this spring so its still relatively pot-hole free.

yup, machinery should be delivered through this gate. If possible it'd be good to have it delievered to the landing, but the intersection would be fine too (so they don't have to try to turn-around)

jakob would you mind putting some of the orange (or bright colored) streamer tape up at the entrance off lake cavinaugh rd it might help some people find the place it will help me too i was too tired to look at where i was on the way out and i followed kevin in so i am not 100% which turn in it was off lake cavinaugh but i remember from there but if you want to mark both roads that would be cool too
