Hitler built the Autoban for his army to move about. It was the model for modern day freeways. A large portion of US roadways were built with the exact thing in mind.
Another example would be in my local area. MCAS Miramar (formally NAS) has 3 major freeways on 3 sides...it was not an accident that all 3 have large strait sections that would be suitable for air operations if needed in time of war.
I'm not saying war is good for the economy. Any time you take a large number of able men and women from society, there are always side effects. That being said....many of those young Americans come back with skills and tallent that they would not otherwise have.

France was ready two weeks ago, everyone was waiting for the US to show up, unfortunatly there were strategic golf sessions and personal concerts that had to be taken care of first, oh yeah, and he had to fill out his bracket for college ball. :awesomework:
