I think your setup looks good. I have never had an issue with the filter style of res(on other cars) but it would be more restrictive. I think that resrtiction could be "lived with" with a little better cooler than usual. Restriction will cause heat as you know... I would run it. Like i said looks good to me.. if it starts getting warm from hard use add a bigger cooler. if still having heating issues dump the res with filter and add one with just baffles..... and if it has issues it is going to bitch. Your going to get a bunch of feedback or the pump is going to wine and burp fluid so you will know it has problems.

Most call for a a 5/8 hose. Like Jason said if the pump starts crying you know where to start looking.
