I think your setup looks good. I have never had an issue with the filter style of res(on other cars) but it would be more restrictive. I think that resrtiction could be "lived with" with a little better cooler than usual. Restriction will cause heat as you know... I would run it. Like i said looks good to me.. if it starts getting warm from hard use add a bigger cooler. if still having heating issues dump the res with filter and add one with just baffles..... and if it has issues it is going to *****. Your going to get a bunch of feedback or the pump is going to wine and burp fluid so you will know it has problems.

Most call for a a 5/8 hose. Like Jason said if the pump starts crying you know where to start looking.
