Winch cable rust

Just wondering what you guys do to Keep winch cable from rusting?

yeh its supposed to be lubed occasionally.
wd40, or any other type of spray lube/penetrating oil.

You it more often and that wont happen. Mine stays worn clean.

Or out of the weather...

Or use rope....

Question. Spray WD40 while it's spooled or do you unspool it and spray as it goes back on?

HW that would be my suggestion....Replace it with a rope from masterpull

Not wishnig to hijack another thread.

Masterpull's stuff looks great! Going to Bellingham, probably not so great...

Easiest why to determine cable length, without unspooling it all? Yeah, got this great winch, no instructions....

unspooling it is the certain way. otherwise, what brand/model winch you got?

Go to your local bulk oil plant and get a bucket of line lube and dump on your winch line and let sit a few days before using. It will look like a mess at first but thats what we use to keep the lines on our yarder in tip top shape....:awesomework:
