Your first REAL wheeling experiance

In high school my two cousins and I stole my uncles blazer (we did it all of the time) and went night wheeling at honda hills. Any one remember honda hills?......We had no idea what we were doing and very nearly rolled it down a steep bank....Dumb ass kids.
Must have been about "82 ish.

the end of my street is where honda hills use to be, my best friends dad moved here cause he could ride his three wheeler down the street straight into honda hills......a year later they built apartments:mad:

How about some insight to your trip

well if you insist :redneck:

Noob run two years ago was the first time i had done any "real" wheeling ever before. It started with me driving my heep over to MarcW's place then hitching up to his jeep because he had a MIP or somthing like that, so i drove his jeep pulling my jeep to reiter and back, which looked hilarious by the way. Was also the first time i had ever taken me willys to reiter:awesomework: . Got to meet a lot of cool people. Done (spidertoy) hung with me the whole day which was awesome cause i had no clue what i was doing. Ran sack-up, then went up this big ol trench that i still have no idea how to get back to, and going down the other side i kept hitting the wall cause manual steering and brakeing hard dont work together very well:haha: . Then we ran tree trail that was a blast lots of ten point turns and arms hurting, then i smacked my high lift on a rock and bent it:looser: . Thats about it was able to keep up with folks pretty well Crash can attest to that:D

This also caused my jeep to sit in the shop for a year and a half though:mad:

after that day i found out my tranny leaked bad and my brakes were worn almost to the metal:redneck: , ended up rebuilding the whole tranny, then found out the transfer case was cracked so i rebuilt that and did the brakes

Been hooked ever since

So theres my story:eeek:

probably highrider in sultan in96 was my first wheeling with the nissan then reiter issy trail, and ofcourse naches with core4x4 and the pnw jamboree..good times just wish I would have gotten into jeep's sooner.

I grew up wheeling with my mom in northern cali. Nothing tough just old logging roads.

My first "wheeling" expierence with my own rig was in New Hampshire at my Grandmothers summer home. Again, just exploring old logging roads. I did some web wheeling and found out that Moab was the place to go if you had a jeep. So I bought a guide book, a hi-lift jack, and packed a cooler full of sandwiches and off the wife and I went to Moab in August of 2000.

I didn't know nothing about nothing regarding wheeling. I didn't know to air down, I didn't know to disconnect the sway bar or anything. We wheeled the Gemini Bridges trail, and then went down into Hey-Joe canyon. When it rained. We spent two days "stuck" down in the canyon camping and hiking. We weren't really stuck, but the flash floods had made the place into a river and we were waiting for it to die down before crossing back through.

On the way out, we gassed up, and then drove the old pony express route from moab to Salt Lake city. All offroad. It was an AWESOME trip. Shortly after that trip, I joined my first wheeling club. And learned more in a month about wheeling, than I had in my whole life.

ridin shotgun in a 1988 Subaru wagon, crankin' Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" toolin around on the frozen tundra of Keechelus Lake up there at Snoqualmie Pass. had to put it in 4wd a few times

another time I can't forget was when I borrowed my dad's new GMC Jimmy on a Thursday (extended lunch day at my highschool). met up with friends in a church parking lot in Bellevue where there was a small wooded mud bog in the middle of the property. for whatever reason I thought it would be cool to test out the offroad prowess of the new SUV. Thankfully it also had a new Warn XD9000 on the front of it, cuz let's just say I needed to use it

An older friend of mine had a cherokee and us and some friends would always take that thing out exploring (urban wheelin areas) but mostly like forest service/powerline roads which is where I think I got hooked.

Once I got my own jeep I took it to reiter for the first time with a couple highschool friends with their rigs. Did some sweet hill climbs under the power lines, ripped a valve stem out, tossed on my spare and headed up to the wall trail. A couple guys turned back cause they didnt want to go through the tree maze but my buddy in his bronco II on 33s went with me :redneck:

Made it to the end and back and put in a couple dents. Used the tug strap a few times back then. :haha:

First Muddin trip.

In my 76 Ford courier 2wd. A friend of mine woke me up at AM on Thanksgiving morning and took me to the mud hole behind the Tacoma Mall. Where "Toys R US" and "Circuit City" now stand. It was a blast, and thats when i learned not to open the door and look at the back tire when you are stuck in the mud.....

First 4x4ing trip.

Bald MT. My first year hunting Elk with my step dad. We camped at Wenas and hunted Hog Ranch Rd, I told him i want to see snow and we headed up to Bald Mt. That is where we spent the rest of hunting season, back at Funny Rocks and around the meadows. It was a blast doing the hill climb in the dark and snow every morning with his Land Cruiser.

Ah the good days.....
:awesomework:

to long ago to remember the first "real" trip but my first 4x4 was a 69 blazer that I got in 1979. as kids we spent a lot of time in the Milton canyon. Lots of trails and some great hill climbs in the sand pits. Like Karl said after I joined my first club (good bad and ugly) I learned more about real wheeling than I thought I could. Coolest thing is though that I am still wheeling with one of the charter members from that club almost 30 years later:cheer:

Holy hell rick, I wasn't even born yet:redneck:

Got to put around in my uncle's flat fender when I was 8-10yrs old, low range in a pasture with my little bro riding shotgun. Somehow we picked up a bunch of barbwire in the undercarrage.

I grew up between Spanaway and Graham near Bethel High school, in a development called Southwood. There were many acres of fields, hills and some trees. I think my dad almost killed us one time getting sideways on a hill we called "Devils Hill", I remember he looked scared!
Lots of good times were had there. My dad had a 2nd gen bronco back then, but I really remember cruising around in old blue (beat old 2wd ford pickup), that was usually just me and my brothers. I actually learned alot driving that thing around (how to get stuck, unstuck, not get stuck!).

Somehow my dad thought it was a good idea to get me a '80 CJ-5 when I turned 16, (by then we lived in Puyallup, Gem Heights, 1988). There was still plenty of open space nearby for me to explore. Those kinds of experiences continued untill '93 when I hooked up with a group from Billy Bob's Offroad, and wheeled at Evans and Elbe (that was back when Billy Bob actually wheeled more than once a year:redneck:) .

I still have some parts of that original jeep, and continue to wheel the piss out of it.

First time wheelin was with my dad and mom in a rented Jeep down in Moab on some scenic trails. We bought the D90 later that summer and our first trip was to Tahuya. That's also where I first drove in "wheelin" conditions.

15 years ago in a 1982 baby blue Lincoln Towncar I "borrowed" from my Dad in the middle of the night. Went up to Evans creek to meet some friends and ended up going down a couple of easy trails, it was dark.

In '88 a buddy of mine went to jail for the better part of a year and left me his Cj-7 to "look after".Needless to say it was pretty well worn when i gave it back:redneck: We were pretty facinated with "wheeling" two wheel drive cars as well. All through highschool and shortly after we would do some pretty gnarly things with Pinto's,a Plymouth Arrow,Mustang II ,VW bug etc.

My first experiance was at naches my dad had a broken back so the driving was passed down to me I was13 could reach the pedals and see out the window and it was the same vehicle I own now so I think it counts. My dad made me drive up this steep muddy hill he knew we couldnt make it to the top of. We spent over an hour there while he taught me how to pick diff. lines start from a stop, back down the hill. Im glad he did that cause now Im not affraid to try any hill. My first few trips were like this find a spot and spend alot of time learning new things.

My first real wheelign experiance was in the back yard about 3years old pushing the tonka trucks around in the mud :fawkdancesmiley: . I have been wheeling on the farm since I was knee high to a short grashopper :redneck: . Logging or cutting wood, I started driving in the woods when I could see over the hood in my old mans lap while he ran the gas and brakes:awesomework:

My first 4x4 experience was as a passenger in my uncle's 1971 GMC Jimmy down in N Cali when we'd go and visit him---we'd head out for the entire day & run old loogin roads, do some small hillclimbs that lead to some spectacular views---Awesome Experiences!!!! I was around 10 yrs old....
My first driving experience was alot like Gasman's, only mine was a '72 Courier!!:redneck: A bunch of us went down to the Bluffs near Dungeness Recreation Area and to this field/trail area near Solmar (both where I grew up in Sequim) and would go mudding in our rides!!!There ain't nothin like doin 40MPH in a full -on drift across a muddy field when your 16!!!!What a blast!!!!! We'd also go up in the hills on weekends to party, and 'wheel'---place that come to mind most was the 700 Rd gravel pit!! This all happened in the mid 80's......
My first real 4x4 experience was in my '78 shortbox chev; I was down in New Mexico at the time--Another buddy of mine had a 77 K5 and we went to the edge of this field, where there was an old, rutted up road that made for some great times!!!:awesomework: This was around 1990....

First wheellin experience in my own rig:

Traded my 70 Camaro (with mullet accessory) for a 73 CJ5 (350 chev conversion) back in 1985. Installed a rancho lift and 31's and headed for the Short and Dirty, among others.
Camped out with a couple buddies, partied our assess off, headed out the next day.
