thats not name calling, thats stating the facts :D

All you can do is insult.

What I said is true. A true Christian will not go out of thier way to sin. Sure we all do to some degree.

Just because someone calls themself a christian doesn't mean they actually are.

Again. I pose that people as a whole religious people are not the ones ****ing up everything.

Just like with whites and minorities. Middle class whites commit crime sure, but minorities commit far more crime per capita.

I guarantee non-Christians commit far more crime and cause more problems than Christians as a whole. I doubt there are any statistics the disprove my theory. And that's coming a non christian myself.

I look at my Grandma, and her generation, a lot of them believe in God and a lot are just like my Grandma. Going to church and would never knowingly break a law or hurt anyone. She comes from a generation where a hand shake was your word and you trusted your neighbor. They left thier keys in thier car at the grocery store, thier front door unlocked and never had a problem.

So Jason since you know it all. Tell me what is different now? And why?

That's kind of a derogatory thing to say to somebody isn't it?

No it's the TRUTH.

Some people act on the internet the same as they would in person.

Some people come onto the internet so they can act the fool. It would seem he likes to stir things up and not post any of his own thoughts. I have seen it in quite a few threads now.

It takes thought and reflection to have an opinon. On the otherhand it takes no thought to blurt out stupid remarks or insults.

I really wonder if the shield of the internet and how people act on it is helping with all these problems. The social skills of the general public is swirling down faster than last nights dinner in the toilet. Something is causing it. And I have a quarter that says the internet is at least in some small way to blame. People spew stuff and act in a way they would NEVER in person.

I dont recall saying I know it all, or anything for that matter. All I did was point out the irony of your post and how stupid your statement was.

do you really think with 75% of americans (as of 2001) associating themselves with christianity that the other 25% of the population are the ones commiting the majority of crimes?

pot, is that you?

you have acted like a complete jackass from day one and now you want to try and act like you've never done anything out of character from how you act in person? get real.

That's the ticket.

Ok let me explian. As I said. "associating" and "are" is very different. But a true Christian does everything in thier power to not do harm. They might every once in a while because they are human but for the most part they surely arn't out commiting major crime.

I didnt spell it out in my original post "Just to toss around some numbers. Lets say 2% of American Christians were bad pedophiles and law breakers. How does that compare to the general population? People point to the few and say "see I told you religion is bad" Yet ignore all the good that is done by christians. Christians are the people who DON'T steal broken generators out of your carport. Non christians are !!!!"

But I was talking about percentages. I would guess that as a percentage. Christians commit far less crime.

So you have 300 mill and 200 mill are "Christian" lets say 2 percet of "Christians" commit major crime. but 15 percent of "non-Christians" commit major crime. Then yes in total numbers there would be more but percentages less.

More to the point to say it again. An actual Christian person isn't going out of thier way to commit crime. Again like my Grandma, she has NEVER knowingly commited a crime in her life. Never had a ticket, nothing more than little white lies or something petty like that.

you're picking and choosing who YOU want to call REAL christians and all these numbers are hypothetical so this discussion is pretty much based on no real facts. kinda pointless isnt it?

the fact is some people are bad and some are not. Wether they are associated with a certian religion or not doesnt mean anything to me. I myself believe in karma and do my best to be a good person and help people when I can, because I can. If there is a heaven and I dont get in based on teh fact I never acknowledged a god rather then based on how I lived my life then thats something I will deal with when I die.

Is that a bad thing?

Because most of the time it either shows lack of knowledge, laziness, or combativness.

And doesn't contribute to a conversation in any real way.

It is also a great way to be argumentative and also not put your neck out to have your thoughts questioned.

Edit: a Real christian is one that adhears to the teachings of Jesus. Love, respect, 10 comandments christians.

I somewhat understand where you are coming from. but this thread has kinda turned into a Christian debate so thats the scew I put on it.

You're right there are bad and good people. Most associate themselves with different groups. Like say gang members, or jocks, or christians. And each group has a percentage AVERAGE behaviour. Or Stereotype.

I would like to hear your thoughts on my other question though. What is wrong with society and why? Why is there more and more crime and social decay?

you know, I started to type up my opinion on why things are so different between now and when our grandparents grew up, but there are just too many things to talk about and it will just end up a total cluster**** of a reply, so I'll just tell you what I think the biggest problem is.

Lack of quality family time and good parents to teach thier children whats important.

Yep that is a big one.

But ya know I actually have a BS in Cluster**** so I can read it well.

Post up what you really think? Don't worry No matter how out there I won't call you an idiot

TO YOUR FACE !!! ;)

:awesomework:

I'm gonna have to tackle that one tomorrow. I dont have enough time to spend on it tonight cause there's a lot of contributing factors and I've gotta sleep some time.

After a few moments to ponder. That is also an effect.

People have to work too much and both parents work which cause what you said.

next up the line is corporate America needs it's 40 million dollar Gulf stream jets and 300 foot yachts. So they demand the worker bees work at 9 bucks an hour and tons of hours but send you home early friday so they don't have you pay overtime after 40.

It all boils down to lack of respect, honor, and dignity from one human being to another. And so I ask where does that root morality come from???

Most of my grandparents generation got it from Christianity. So where is it comming from now? I guess it isn't and therefore all the things listed are happening.

Here's an idea:

Is there anyone here that can honestly say that they might have their opinion changed by anything posted here?

I can't.

Some might call my position closed-minded, but that's entirely too simple an explanation because it implies that I don't care what others believe. The reality is that my convictions are deeply-seated within my person. They are always open to revision, but there is a significant lack of sincerity on a forum such that it does not lend itself well to these kinds of discussions. I'm certainly willing to listen to and discuss anyone else's viewpoint or belief and would never attempt to invalidate it. And if someone genuinely is interested in what I believe, then I'll freely share. But otherwise, what's the point? A lot of wasted keyboard battery life.

Moving on, I think the biggest factor in societal degradation is the gradual elimination of a common ethos in a move toward secular humanism. When a society's morals have no firm basis, the definitions are left open to interpretation by individuals. What we are seeing is the 'answer' to the age-old philosophical question that plagues humanism (paraphrased): "If what's true for you is true for you and what's true for me is true for me, what happens when your truth says that my truth is wrong?" If truth is something to be interpreted by everyone as they see fit, it's not really truth, is it?
