I am starting to think the ones that don't or don't think we need to stand by eachother have never fell on hard times or had to take a job that is less than they think they deserve to make due.

I make $72.50 an hour as a timber faller. In 2008 I took a job at $17.50 an hour as a chaser when there were no falling jobs to be had. Did I like the pay cut? No. Did I do it until I got back to falling? Yes.

Sometimes you need to make adjustments to keep going forward instead of letting ego & entitlement stop you completely.

I have spent plenty of time working jobs that paid crap and busted my ass for them. Now I don't work nearly as hard as I have in the past and do it for a lot more money. This job can not be matched outside Boeing.

With that said, I have no issue walking away and busting my ass again in order have my family where they are better off and to have my kids near their grandparents.
 
In one breath you say that your compensation cannot be matched outside Boeing and in the next breath you say you have no problem walking away to bust your ass again where your family will be better off.....

Being better off,Which one is it...???:eeek:

I dont want my kids growing up here. I did and its not the same as it was even 10 years ago. We have no real family here. I want them to learn how to support themselves as they grow up. I want them in the outdoors as much as possible rather then malls and shopping centers. For them to learn how to hunt, grow food, raise an animal from birth to death to feed a family. Having a large income and being better off are two different things in my eyes.
 
I'm starting to get a bit of a "chuckle " out of this. I emailed the union, as did many about the recent offer. I also decided to send an email to Ray Conner. The union now claims that Boeing withdrew the offer once it was rejected by the union leaders, and can no longer be voted on. My letter from Ray Conner (or his assistant) states that it was not withdrawn after the rejection, and would accept a vote under"certain circumstances."

Honestly, thanks to today's political bull**** (the era, not actually "today"), I don't believe either side.

What makes me laugh are the ones who think the union would never lie to them and that the union has their backs and best interest in mind. The union has their own interest in mind. The company is out to make a profit and continue to do so. The media has ratings in mind, and often a liberal interest. I would not trust a one of them with a nickel, but yet have to trust the union with $65 a month to do the right thing. Right now they are not doing it. The members want a vote and Boeing said the offer still stand if we ant a vote. The prez is standing in the way of what the members want. Also just look at the lies that came from the union before the last vote. Sad really.
 
I've been reading more and more about the pension. Just how much it's hampering the companies ability to grow. And not just Boeing, all of the large companies that still offer a pension. If the union members don't switch to a 401k. That alone will definitely drive Boeing out of WA state.

As for the union president. He should either have the union website updated immediately, or send out an email. He waits until there is an outlash of people wanting answers to even present us with information they have gone over the previous day, or even days before. If he's getting almost 180k a year from us, we could at least get some updates instead of hearing about meetings being held from the media.

Union dues are $65 a month!?!?!? Damn that is a lot of money for something that May or may not have your interests in mind. I had no idea. Only union I have ever been in was some grocers union when I bagged groceries in high school. Union dues were $0.50 a week.

Being that the IAM is the only union I have worked for, I have no idea what the dues are for other unions.

If you all don't "fire" all of your union reps after this, you are only asking for more trouble in the future. This is a real circus looking in from the outside. The union as a whole looks like "a" jackass from here.

There's no difference, Hostess is back up and running under a different bakery in a different state, Boeing might do the exact same thing and all the Washington workers will he SOL. Do you really think someone will take a huge pay cut to move?

Ditto, I work in Bellevue and have been looking at property in Easton and Cle Elum, it would still be the same amount of time commuting from Edgewood as it would from Easton, and I would be on the right side of the state :D
